I had the fun "crop"ortunity to teach at the NOCO Crop Stop yesterday up in Ft. Collins.
I love love love local scrapbook stores.
I could spend all day simply wandering around and touching and smelling the papers and products.
Sweet Linda introduced me and then we got started. On the docket: make two double-page layouts in two hours! Time to get down to business!
It ended up taking about three hours to create the pages and it was a total blast.
Here are the layouts we made:
YOUNG WILD FREE by Paige Evans
Trim a 1 ¼” strip from 13 patterned papers then use fringe scissors to fringe all the strips. Turn all the strips onto the backside and place adhesive across the top of each piece. Starting at the bottom of a piece of scratch cardstock, layer the fringe strips up the page, overlapping them slightly. Flip the page over, use a heart template, trace inside the heart, then carefully cut out the heart, saving any fringe pieces that fall off. Carefully glue the fallen off fringe pieces back where they belong onto the background and the heart cut out. Back the open heart with patterned paper and tuck three 3x4” photos into the heart. Fussy cut a word from patterned paper and adhere it below the right photo. Journal under the title.
Adhere the fringe heart onto a patterned paper background and trace around the heart with a black pen for contrast – add “x”s with the pen to look like stitching. Layer two 3x4” photos on the top left side. Trace a Banner cut file onto patterned paper then cut it out slightly inside the traced lines. Adhere the cut out paper to the back of the cut file then place it across the heart. Fussy cut three words from patterned paper and adhere them across the banner. Hand cut hearts from coordinating patterned papers and adhere them cascading down the page – bend up the edges of the hearts for dimension.
Spread a thin layer of gesso across the patterned paper background, let it dry, then splash watercolors on top – set it aside to dry. Use the letters and hearts from the Love You cut file as templates to trace them (textured side/right side down) with a pencil onto the backside of your chosen patterned papers. When trimming the images out, cut them about ¼” wider than the pencil lines. Use liquid adhesive to cover the back of the cut file then stick the cut out papers in place to back the cut file. Adhere the cut file to the background paper using dimensional adhesive. Tuck a 3x4” photo between the hearts. Fussy cut a title from patterned paper and adhere it under the photo. Journal inside the bottom heart. Use a roller stamp to stamp randomly around the page. Trim two wedges of patterned paper, distress the edges, and layer them at the top edge to finish the left page.
Spread a thin layer of gesso across the patterned paper background, let it dry, then splash watercolors on top – set it aside to dry. Use letter templates to trace them (textured side/right side up) onto the front side of your chosen patterned papers. Cut the letters out along on the pencil lines then distress all the edges. Place three 3” square photos across the center of the background then adhere the letters above and below using dimensional adhesive. Fussy cut two titles from patterned paper and adhere them above and below the photos. Use a border punch to punch an edge from the left, top, and right sides. Punch another border from a contrasting patterned paper, trim it into three strips, then use those to back the punched edges. Use a roller stamp to stamp by the punched sections. Trim two wedges of patterned paper, distress the edges, and layer them at the bottom edge to finish the right page.
