Hey dear friends. It's Jamie Pate here and it's August. It's that time of year I look back on our ever-so-quick summer and pine for more time. And isn't that just why we scrapbook? To remember all the moments. The fun. The stolen photos. Yep. That's why I am in it for sure. And today's layout is definitely no exception.
Today's Happy Life layout is brought to you just exactly by what I stated above. A stolen photo. My 8 year old had hold of my phone as we gathered at this amazing coffee house on our road trip. I love this capture so much of my almost 16 year old. She was wearing that gorgeous golden yellow top. So I went with that vibe. I pulled out Paige's Whimsical collection and went searching for all the yellow things. The page is matted on solid grey. Yeah. A little different for me. But I love the foundation it created for this page. Her photo was backed with Paper 09. That stripe against the grey and her photo made for a great pop of color.
So a couple tips here: Explore using parts of a cut file to create your embellishment. Cut plenty of little flowers to layer on top of the cut file. And always remember: tell your story.

Next thing was to cut paper for some embellishment. I went for one of Paige's Flower Wreath cut files. Only part of the cut file was used as I mostly only wanted the flowers and not the wreath. It's subtle, but if you look closely, that cut was made on Paper 21 B-side. The little grey polka dot was a perfect touch. From Paper 07 I fussy cut yellow flowers. Those cuts were layered over additional cut flowers using the Flower Garden Background cut file. Oh. Me. I love how this turned out and will be doing it again. Those layers are just so happy to me. To wrap it all up, I trimmed out that square card from Paper 13. It was yellow. AND the sentiment was absolutely perfect for the story found on this page.
