Make Your Own Magic Layout by Elsie Robinson

Hey everyone, it’s Elsie Robinson here, and I’m so excited to be sharing my first layout using the Truly Grateful collection. Whenever I get a new collection, I’m like a kid in a candy store and I just want to use everything! All of the papers in this collection are so pretty that I wanted to use an intricate cut file so I could use as many as possible! I used the gorgeous Flower Scroll cut file.
As with all of Paige’s collections, there are so many papers with the most amazing patterns and colors that are perfect to use for backing cut files. I grabbed Paper 08Paper 09Paper 14, and pPaper 21, as well as the 6x8 Paper Pad to back the cut file. Each flower was backed with a different pattern from those papers and I used the green patterns from Paper 02Paper 03, and Paper 20 to back the leaves. After auditioning several papers to back the scroll part of the cut file, I settled on Paper 15 because you can never go wrong with a pink ombré pattern! However the curled parts of the scroll didn’t end up standing out as much as I would like, so to fix that I used a dark pink colored pencil and colored over those parts to create a darker shade of pink. I also did some hand-stitching around the edge of the scroll to help it stand out a little more. I had so much fun using this cut file!

I used the gorgeous blue star ombre pattern from Paper 13 as my background because I liked how it contrasted against the pink scroll. To embellish, I fussy-cut lots of leaves from Paper 03 and clustered them behind the cut file for some extra whimsy. I also couldn’t resist using some of the Floral Die Cuts, and the butterfly, bird and toadstool embellishments (from the Ephemera Die CutsStickers, and Puffy Stickers) were too cute not to add!

This cut file is great because it basically dictates your layout design for you, since the scroll is the perfect place to add your photos, title, and journaling. I used the ‘make your own magic’ Epoxy Sticker as my title, typed my journaling onto some vellum, and I created a photo strip of three photos so everything could fit inside the scroll perfectly!

Thanks for stopping by everyone!
