Hi everyone! I have a new layout featuring my Globe Floral cut file and brand new Truly Grateful collection!
First I have a process video sharing how this layout came together from start to finish, focusing on how I altered the cut file to create the backing pieces for this intricate design so that I didn't have to fussy cut every backing piece:
I started by die cutting my Globe Floral cut file from textured white cardstock using a Silhouette Cameo 3. I carefully peeled it off the mat since the design is very intricate. If it rips or tears you can carefully glue or tape it back together.
In Silhouette Studio I released the compound path, deleted all the shapes I didn't need between the shapes I wanted to back, and then grouped the images and moved them around so there was more space between each shape. I offset all the shapes and then deleted the inner shapes. It all makes more sense in the video :) I cut patterned papers to mirror the design in Studio and then my machine took about 2 minutes to cut out all the backing shapes, saving me hours of tracing and fussy cutting! Gotta love technology!
I went with a mostly pink/purple color scheme with bits of green, orange, and yellow. To tone down the background and help the cut file visually pop off the page I used my fingers to smudge white gesso on my selected patterned paper. I sped up the drying process with a hair dryer and then glued the cut file down.
I added a photo of me with my kids on the globe, tucking it under a couple of the flowers for more interest. Then I began tucking Floral and Leaf Die Cuts under the left and right sides of the globe. I also added a Journaling Spot, "stay golden" Sticker, and "you are loved" Ephemera Die Cut. To complete the title I used a "sunshine" Epoxy Sticker below the photo.
I tucked a scalloped border Sticker under the globe cut file and wrote journaling with a white pen in the curve of the globe. To finish, I bent over the top right corner and backed it with a pink/purple striped paper from the 6x8 Paper Pad.
I hope this page inspires you to check out this Globe Floral cut file and Truly Grateful collection! There are so many possibilities and uses for cut files and new collections! Thanks for stopping by today!
