I made a layout just for fun using Truly Grateful and my new Unicorn cut file!
After I cut out the unicorn I asked Jane to go put on some unicorn stuff. She did and I snapped a few photos. Please tell me I'm not the only one who takes pictures of my kids solely to match cut files lol! I had about an hour before I needed to be at the church for an activity and I already had an idea of what I wanted to do with this cut file. So I just sat down at my desk, backed the horn with gold glitter paper and the ears with a couple Truly Grateful papers then plopped on a bunch of the Floral Die Cuts. From there the creative juices started flowing again. That's all it took! Just simply sitting down and starting, pushing around paper and stickers.
Last weekend I was feeling super unmotivated, no mojo, creativity kaput. Usually when that happens I switch gears to mini albums and I had pulled out everything to start my October 2018 mini album when BAM. Mojo gone. So I did some computer work, wrote blog posts, and knocked other things off my to-do list. Somewhere in between all of that I cut this Unicorn cut file from white cardstock with a Silhouette Cameo 3.
After I cut out the unicorn I asked Jane to go put on some unicorn stuff. She did and I snapped a few photos. Please tell me I'm not the only one who takes pictures of my kids solely to match cut files lol! I printed off the photo of Jane snapped only hours earlier and tucked it into the flowers. I chose the dark purple B-side of Paper 04 for my background. Before adding the unicorn on top I did some stitching & mixed media. I drew lines connecting to a point behind the unicorn with a white pen and then used a sewing machine to stitch over the lines using gold thread first and then light purple thread. This creates a fun, textured background drawing the eye into the main focal point.
Then I splashed gold paint, watered down white acrylic paint, and Pastel Dreams watercolors on top. In every other section I added sequins from the Mixed Embellishments as well as round Epoxy Stickers and Puffy Stickers for little pops of color that look like candy.
For the title I cut an Epoxy Sticker sentiment in half to get just the "YOU", added gold "ADORE" Puffy Phrase Stickers, and finished with the Thickers to say "UNICORNS". YOU ADORE UNICORNS :) She sure does! To finish I wrote a bit of journaling on a piece of a Journaling Spot and tucked it under the left side of the photo to balance the title.
I hope this layout inspires you in some way! I love creating layouts just for fun and only wish I had filmed the process :) Be sure to check out my cut files and new Truly Grateful collection!
