Hello friends, it’s Kelly Daye here today with a new layout. I’ve designed it with one of my favorite Pink Paislee collection’s by Paige - the oh-so-pretty Turn the Page collection. The soft pastels and florals are totally irresistible. It was perfect for a layout about my kitty’s favorite pastime: looking out at the garden to watch the birdies.
I designed my layout with Paige’s cute kitten cut file - You Have Cat To Be Kitten Me Right Meow! Bonus, when you join Paige’s Happy Scrappy Place Facebook Group you can download it for free! I cut it from white cardstock and paper-backed the words with spare bits of Turn the Page that I’ve saved from other projects. I save every little piece, by color, in small envelopes just for projects like this. The round icon in the centre of the layout was fussy cut from Paper 10. One of the pretty Heart Charms from the Oh My Heart collection along with some gold thread was added to suggest a tag on a collar.
Once the words in the kitten cut file were backed, I offset the cut file in Silhouette Studio to get a background slightly bigger and also cut it from white cardstock. I think this added some nice but subtle dimension. This kitty is looking out a window, which is actually Paige’s Geometric Star Background cut file, cut from Paper 18. I made the shakers in the "window panes" using thin strips of 3D foam tape and filled them with a colorful, custom mix of sequins that complemented the floral background Paper 02.
Since it’s a faux window to the garden, I wanted to surround it with flowers. Many mini-buds later, mission accomplished! I made them in yellow, mint, aqua, pink, white, and coral and couldn’t be more smitten. They also add a ton of texture! All the pretty little buds were made using Paige’s Rolled Flower cut files and more bits from Turn the Page. To create an interesting boarder, I applied 1/4” double-sided tape around the yellow background Paper 15 and sprinkled it with yellow glitter. To finish it all off, Stickles and White Nuvo Crystal Drops where randomly dotted all around the wreath. There’s always room for a little more sparkle!
Thanks so much for coming by, I’m thrilled that you did!
