5 Cut File Cards

Saturday, September 28, 2019

I created a set of five cards featuring my cut files and Horizon collection for Issue 55 of Die-Cutting Essentials Magazine - a fabulous UK publication!
I don't make cards too often, so this was a fun creative exercise to combine a couple of my passions: cut files and scrapbook supplies!

THANKS A BUNCH how to: In a cut file program, create a rectangle sized to 11x5.5” and place the Doily cut file on the right side, centered. Cut the design from white cardstock using a Silhouette Cameo 3. Back the doily with the colorful Paper 24. Cluster embellishments slightly off-center using flowers and leaves from the Floral Die Cuts, a round flower Sticker, a couple floral Chipboard Stickers, and a flower Shaped Paper Clip as shown. Create dimension between the layers with foam squares. Type “thanks a bunch.” in the Remington Noiseless font at size 8, print it out onto white cardstock, trim it out, then glue it on top of the embellishments for a sentiment.
THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH. how to: Die cut 19 Rolled Flowers from 3" squares of a variety of Horizon patterned papers using a Silhouette Cameo 3. Roll the paper flowers up and secure them with hot glue. Freehand draw a heart on the front of the B-side dark blue Paper 16 A4 card base then hot glue the rolled paper flowers over the drawn heart. Type “thank you so very much.” in the Remington Noiseless font at size 8, print it out onto white cardstock, trim each word out, then glue the words in the center of the heart for a sentiment.

THANK YOU. how to: Size the Butterflies Background cut file to 5.778x5.226” and then die cut it from white cardstock using a Silhouette Cameo 3. Back the butterflies with a rainbow of patterned papers from Horizon. Use foam dots to adhere the butterflies onto the light blue patterned paper B-side of Paper 08 made into an A4 card base. Type “thank you.” in the Remington Noiseless font at size 8, print it out onto white cardstock, trim it out, then glue it to one of the butterflies for a sentiment.

THANKS SO MUCH. how to: Size the Flower Garden Background cut file to about 5.5” square then cut it two separate times from white cardstock using a Silhouette Cameo 3. Using one of the designs as a stencil, scrape modeling paste through it onto a 5.5” square white cardstock card base and let it dry thoroughly. Spritz inks in a rainbow of colors across the front and let it dry. Place the second cut file on top, lightly adhere it in place, trim any excess, then machine stitch twice around the edges to keep it in place permanently. Distress the edges of a butterfly paper from the 2x2 Paper Pads then adhere it with foam squares to the right of the middle. Layer two blue Floral Die Cuts over a tag Ephemera Die Cut, over a larger pink Floral Die Cut, over a banner Ephemera Die Cut, and over a globe fussy cut from Paper 11. Type “thanks so much.” in the Remington Noiseless font at size 8, print it out onto white cardstock, trim it out, then staple the sentiment to the layered embellishments through all the layers. Attach the stapled piece to the 2x2 paper swatch using foam squares to finish.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH. how to: Create a rectangle sized to 5.355x4.055”, place the Bend Up Flower Petals cut file inside the rectangle, and enlarge the flower to your desired size. Delete any petals outside or overlapping the rectangle then cut from the light pink B-side of Paper 02. Adhere the panel onto a darker pink (B-side) A4 Paper 23 card base. Tangle white sewing thread and glue it to the top of the card. Layer flowers and leaves from the Floral Die Cuts over the thread using foam squares. Type “thank you very much.” in the Remington Noiseless font at size 8, print it out onto white cardstock, trim it out, then glue it to the middle of the flower die cuts for a sentiment.

I hope these cut files cards inspire you to check out my cut filesHorizon collection and Issue 55 of Die-Cutting Essentials Magazine!! Thanks for stopping by and please let me know if you have any questions!
