Today & Love Layout

This layout took 30 minutes to make. That, my friends, is a WIN! Usually my layouts average about 3-8 hours so I'm here today to share how this layout came together so quickly, with the help of the September Missy Whidden Shimmerz Kit and the exclusive Floral Ampersand cut file I designed to go along with it.

I started by applying white gesso across a smooth white cardstock background and let it dry. Then I sort of unintentionally divided the page into four quadrants and added one of the four colors included in the September Missy Whidden Shimmerz Kit to each section. I spritzed, sprayed, splashed, dabbed, and used the packaging technique to apply the colors and then let them dry.

The colors are so shiny and shimmery! Love them and the sparkle they add.


I die cut the Floral Ampersand cut file from textured white cardstock using a Silhouette Cameo 3, carefully peeled it off the mat, then adhered it to the mixed media background. Time to embellish! I grabbed a bag of fussy cut flowers from my Truly Grateful collection as well as a new package of Floral Die Cuts then layered them over the cut file until it looked balanced.

I glued the flowers in place with a bit of liquid adhesive so the edges could lift and bend to create texture and dimension. I used all three Dotz included in the September Missy Whidden Shimmerz Kit and glued them over the flowers. I tucked a photo of Jane into the top right side and journaled with a blue pen in the bottom section of the ampersand to finish. That's it! Done and done.
