I have a new layout made for Pink Paislee featuring a scalloped border background/frame!
First, check out this process video to see how this layout came together from start-to-finish:
I started by using a lace scalloped border punch from EK Success to punch 24 strips. I used two pieces of Paper 24 from my Truly Grateful collection - it's the one with the colorful triangles and I was able to get 12 borders from each paper.
I chose the B-side of Paper 21 with the subtle pastel cross stitches on a white background on which to adhere the border strips. First I loosely placed them in a frame around the layout to make sure I had enough of them and to check that I even liked this idea. I had a vision in my head but wanted to make sure it could come to life before committing to it and gluing everything down. It looked alright so I moved forward!
Next I trimmed the border strips to fit the smaller and smaller frames as I was gluing them in place which you can see better in the process video above. To add lots of texture I ruffled up all of the scallops. Do they get smushed down in a scrapbook? Only a little bit! The dimension stands the test of time.
I found a cute photo of Jane, printed it into a 3.25" square, trimmed it out leaving a white border, and placed it in the center to be the focal point of the layout. I tucked a bunch of Journaling Spots under the picture to help draw the eye right to it and create interesting layers.
For the title I used a combination of wood veneer from the Mixed Embellishments and Thickers to say Yes Girl. I also added an "adore" Epoxy Sticker subtitle above the photo. I journaled with a blue pen on a smaller Journaling Spot and tucked it under the right side of the picture. To finish I added four Puffy Stickers around the photo of icons of things Jane likes - birds, a bunny, and birdhouse.
I hope this page inspires you to create a fun scalloped border background/frame for your next layout using Truly Grateful! Thanks so much for stopping by and I'll see you again soon!
