Love Layout for SCT

Happy Valentine's Day!
This layout appeared in the Winter 2019 issue of Scrapbook & Cards Today Magazine!
I started by die cutting my Concentric Hearts Cut File from a bunch of pink/purple patterned papers from Truly Grateful and arranged them sporadically and overlapping across the ombre pink wallpapery Paper 18.

To keep the hearts in place forever and to add texture, I machine stitched with white thread over each heart. This took some finesse and time because the hearts are so thin. It's definitely not perfect, but the results are worth it. To add depth and dimension, I used a rub-on tool to get under the edges of each heart and bend up the edges on either side of the sewn lines.

In Silhouette Studio, I copied three of one of the hearts, dropped three photos into them, printed them out, then had the Silhouette Cameo cut them out so they'd be perfectly shaped like hearts. I adhered the photos with foam squares to the layout to create a visual triangle.

I used only one of the inner solid hearts, added it to the right edge and trimmed the excess, then wrote journaling with a purple pen on this heart. For the title I used Thickers to spell "LOVE" by the journaling, along the curve of the heart, and I only used pink and purple colors to fit the theme of love.

To finish I sprinkled hearts from the Epoxy Stickers around the page and added a sentiment Cardstock Sticker overlapping each photo. There is a challenge associated with this layout so download the Winter 2019 issue of Scrapbook & Cards Today Magazine for FREE and turn to page 48 for the details! Thanks for stopping by!

  1. :D Oh geez, you two are a cute couple! These days, Jim and I have to take a dozen photos to actually like one, ha! Your sewing skills are to be admired. Those are really tight little lines to sew straight on and it all looks awesome to me. Teasing them up was such a nice design technique too. Such a pretty layout :D Happy Valentine's lovely Paige <3 ! xK
