Hello there! It's Shimelle and this is my very first post as part of Paige's Cut File Design Team! I couldn't wait to jump right into the beautiful Bloom Street collection and put my Valentine energy to use with this Love Love Love cut file with a photo of my own little love.
Word outlines are some of my very favourite cut files and I often fill each letter with a different patterned paper, but the repetition of the same word led me to something much simpler: one colour per line, starting with the light blue of Paper 04, then the hot pink of Paper 05 and the rich turquoise of Paper 06. All three patterns are Bloom Street B-sides and the outline is cut from smooth white cardstock. The set of just three papers made it straightforward and quick to trace, cut out, and back the outline. I placed the whole piece in the middle of the Paper 04 A-side with delicate words on a white background.
Since there were two variations of blue on the page, I added a second pink as well, matting the photo with the pale pink pattern of Paper 07. The journaling card from Paper 01 and photo are tucked into the gaps between the words, with the top and bottom lines easily legible. Love is a simple enough word that our minds can fill in the gaps of the second line even with half of it covered up! I brought that turquoise shade up to the top section of the page by attaching the corners of the photo with the Bloom Street Washi Tape.
My embellishments started with three phrase boxes cut from patterned paper placed on the diagonal from top left to bottom right, then dressed up with a Layered Butterfly Sticker for each one. There's also a triangle of the sparkly white Enamel Dots and a colourful enamel heart. There are so many words on the page already that it doesn't necessarily need a title, but I couldn't resist the word 'magic' in the Puffy Word Stickers! My finishing touch is a simple no-sew flourish with embroidery thread. At the top and bottom corners, it's wrapped around the outline of the cut file and tied in a tiny bow. In the middle, the same thread is a bit less orderly, with a loose bundled simply glued onto the page, tucked behind the journaling box.
If you'd like to see how this came together, here's a process video to see Bloom Street and a cut file full of love in action!
Thanks so much for taking a look and may your week be filled with love and creativity!
