Hey everybody! I have a new layout and process video to share with you today featuring a few different techniques such as punched heart flowers, modeling paste through a custom stencil, and a bit of mixed media!
Here is a process video to show how this layout came together from beginning to end:
I started by punching a whole bunch of hearts from all the papers in my Horizon collection. To make 12 flowers, each with 7 hearts, I needed 84 hearts. Then I folded all the hearts in half.
I punched circles from scrap white cardstock, covered them with liquid glue, and then arranged 7 petals onto each circle to complete the flowers. I varied whether the crease of the petal was on the left sides or right sides so that the layout was pretty from every angle :)
I trimmed a piece of the yellow floral B-side Paper 03 into four triangles and then placed the flowers atop two of the sections. After adhering the flowers in place I trimmed of any excess hanging over the edges. I glued the triangles onto a sheet of white cardstock.
The white sections needed something extra so I whipped up a Daisies Stencil cut file, cut it out from scratch white cardstock using a Silhouette Cameo, and then scraped white modeling paste through. I love the texture this adds and enhances the floral theme.
I splashed watered down white acrylic paint and Pastel Dreams watercolors across the middle then added my photo on top. To make the title I used the Horizon Thickers diagonally across the page to spell VOODOO DOUGHNUT and machine stitched across them to keep them in place permamently. I wrote journaling with a blue pen on the opposite diagonal to finish.
I hope this page inspires you to try making some of these heart flowers (they're addicting and can be used in so many different ways!) as well as grab my Daisies Stencil cut file!
Thanks for stopping by, let me know if you have any questions, and have a wonderful day and week!
