Fun in the Sunshine Layout by Brianna Lepper

Hi crafty friends! Brianna Lepper here with another layout using Paige's Bloom Street collection. I hope you are all staying safe and healthy! I'm hoping this layout inspires you to create something and I also hope it brightens your day. Bloom Street comes with a Washi Tape set and I thought it would be fun to show you how to back a cut file using some of the rolls from the set.
First, I grabbed a piece of white cardstock from my stash and cut the Butterfly Half cut file twice on my Silhouette Cameo. When I cut it the second time, I removed the inner wing segments since I only wanted the solid background of the butterfly. I then took the negative pieces from the butterfly wings and started applying Washi Tape on each piece. In doing this, I was able to control how each segment looked. I also did this because I knew I wanted to pop the entire cut file on adhesive foam. Once all of the segments had all of the washi tape down, I carefully adhered each piece on the solid butterfly. I used the cut file as a guide to make sure I had them placed correctly. I then added thin foam strips to the cut file and placed it on top of the solid piece. I love how it turned out!
For the base of my layout, I used Paper 18. I ran it through my sewing machine to add gold thread stitching as another form of texture. I also wanted a few hints of mixed media so I pulled out Paige's Star Stencil and applied white modeling paste through it. Adding paint splatters to finish it off just tied the whole background together. I wanted to make the butterfly appear to be landing on something so I used the Layered Flowers and Leaves cut file and cut it from Paper 22. I layered them up and added adhesive jewels from the Mixed Embellishments. I also added a few leaves to each flower from the Floral Die Cuts. Not only did it give my butterfly a landing spot, but it also created more texture and dimension to my page. I love these flowers so much!
For my title, I used two phrases from the Puffy Vinyl Stickers and I also pulled in some of the white Mini Thickers from the Pick-Me-Up collection to complete my title. Those puffy words are my favorite! I love the ombre coloring and the font is perfect! I picked a few butterflies from the Puffy Vinyl Stickers and scattered them around my page. To embellish around my photo, I pulled a cute tag from the Ephemera Die Cuts and added some twine through it. I backed my photo with patterned papers from the 6x8 Paper Pad and also added a few stickers from the 4-Page Sticker Book.
This layout was so much fun to create! I hope I've inspired you to use Washi Tape and back a cut file with it! To see how I created this layout, I'd love for you to check out my process video below! Thanks so much for stopping by and we will see you in my next post!
