We've been spending a lot of time at home lately so I thought a home-themed layout would be appropriate! This page uses my Bloom Street collection and Home Overlapping with Stitching Holes cut file which is part of my 9 Home-Themed Cut Files Bundle.
Here is a start-to-finish process video:
I began by having my Cricut cut out the Home Overlapping with Stitching Holes cut file. I've found that I'm actually preferring my Cricut more these days for intricate designs and thick cardstock. It cut this design with the hundreds of tiny stitching holes flawlessly. I spent about 4 hours doing a chain stitch through all the stitching holes, using all six strands of white DMC embroidery floss.
I grabbed the 6x8 Paper Pad and backed every space except the hole in the heart with patterned papers. I stuck with pinks and blues and some of the papers have silver foiling details which add some sparkle & shine! I backed the heart with a photo of me and the kids in bed watching TV - we've done a lot of that lately :)
For the background I chose the pastel sentiments Paper 04 and began by scraping white gesso across it. Once dry, I added Pastel Dreams and Tropicals watercolors in clusters all over and sped up that drying process with a hair dryer. I used foam squares to attached the cut file in place.
To embellish, I added four clusters of Floral Die Cuts around the page and wrote journaling with a blue pen on a piece of a journaling spot found in the Ephemera Die Cuts. And the layout was done! I love the colors, textures, and dimension of this page and hope you are inspired in some way by it! Thanks for stopping by today!
