Hey everyone! It’s Elsie Robinson here with a springtime layout made using the Bloom Street collection and one of my all-time favourite cut files by Paige: Rainboots. Although we’re currently self-isolating in the UK, we’re allowed to leave our house once a day for a bit of exercise. So now, more than ever, I’m so grateful to be able to put on my rainboots and get outside to walk the dog. This cut file was perfect to help tell my story.
I started off by cutting the cut file from white cardstock. I decided to go for a classic rainboot look and chose the yellow floral pattern from Paper 14 to back the cut file with. For the soles and handles I chose the purple patterns from Paper 15. Since purple is yellow’s contrasting colour I was able to create a really bold and vibrant rainboot.
Of course I couldn’t resist adding some hand-stitching, so I used white thread to stitch around the outline of each boot, which adds more definition. And for even more cuteness I used one of the metal Flower Charms and added a handmade purple tassel to create a little custom charm for the rainboot!
For my background I used Paper 10 which is the most perfect sky background pattern and I added white paint splatters to give the look of rain. I used a combination of Floral Die Cuts and the Layered Butterfly Stickers to cluster around the rainboots. I used the "Spring" from the Puffy Vinyl Stickers combined with the "DAYS" Puffy Word Sticker to spell out my title. And finally, I adhered the hummingbird and umbrella Ephemera Die Cuts together to make it look like the bird was flying off holding an umbrella… I couldn’t resist adding that extra bit of whimsy!
I hope you’re all doing well and scrapping lots! Make sure you check out Paige’s cut files for loads of crafty inspiration!
