Home, Sunshine & Happiness Layout by Kelly Daye

Hello friends, it’s Kelly Daye here to share a new layout I’ve designed with Paige’s spring infused, Bloom Street collection. It’s about the place we’ve all gotten pretty familiar with these past weeks, HOME. Now that spring is finally arriving here in the north, my layout is a reflection of both.
Today, I’ve used three cut files on one layout! I really love the dimension and interest you can create by blending together Paige’s wonderful cut files to tell your own story. The Birdhouse and Flower Borders cut files are from Paige’s 19 Spring Cut Files Bundle and I’ve combined it with the Home With Stitching Holes cut file.

Everything is cut out of white cardstock on my Silhouette Cameo. I chain stitched the title and all around the layout with six strands of DMC embroidery floss for lots of dimension. There’s daddy bird helping to build a nest for his family, he’s papered with the heart paper from the 6x8 Paper Pad. The phrase tag is from the Cardstock Stickers. The birdhouse and all the letters are backed with product strips I’ve been saving from other Bloom Street projects. I taped them onto a scrap of cardstock to make a collage sheet that was 12x6”. I cut that into rectangles to fit behind the cut file letters.

I actually cut out three birdhouses and one shadow of it to work with. I cut off the post from one and backed it with Paper 03. I cut off the main part of the birdhouse and backed it with the same product strip collage as the letters. Finally, I cut off the roof and did the shingles with Paper 16. Each layer was popped up with foam tape onto the shadow to make the birdhouse dimensional. Oh, I also copied the bird in Silhouette Studio, flipped it over, and put one inside the house as a mama bird.

The background was stenciled with Distress Oxides. I wanted it to look like bokeh on a sunny day. I just made a quick stencil in Silhouette Studio by cutting out various sizes of circles on a piece of scrap cardstock. I used the Flower Border cut file from the 19 Spring Cut Files Bundle to make the garden my birdhouse sits in. The flowers and leaves are backed with Bloom Street patterned papers. Once papered in pretty Bloom Street, I backed the entire garden with vellum, popped it up with foam tape at the bottom of the layout, and tucked in my photos along with flowers from the Floral Die Cuts. Finally, the whole design was matted onto a sheet of Paper 22 to create a colorful border all around.

Thanks so much for visiting, see you again soon!
