Whimsical Hexagon Mini Album by Amber Mitchell

Hello crafty friends! Amber Mitchell here on Paige’s blog today to share with you this fun mini album I created using the older Whimsical collection and Paige's Hexagon Mini Album cut file.

Paper crafting has become a hobby and joy of mine over the past few years. Recently, to celebrate my birthday, I created a new project every day for a week. Keeping busy and creative was a ton of fun and inspired me to continue to try new things. As such, I wanted to document that time with a fun mini album that was just as crafty! The Whimsical collection was perfect for this since it’s full of bright colors and creative elements.

Since I used the digital version of the Whimsical collection, I first printed my favorite patterned papers onto some heavy weight cardstock. I then resized the Hexagon Mini Album cut file using my Cricut software so that each individual hexagon measured about 3" in width.

Once the file was cut, I folded up on all of the perforated score lines and moved on to cutting the smaller hexagons to mat the base. I cut these from a pretty, blush colored paper and added stitching around the edges for texture. I then adhered one to each of the 7 hexagons using double-sided tape.

Creating the pages of this mini album was so fun! When the album is completely open, all of the pages can be viewed at once. This gave me the fun opportunity of tying all of the pages together. To do this I made sure to use the same techniques on each individual one.

I started with the photos. I matted each one with the same paper to help them pop off the page. As my photos are small (measuring at about 1x1.5") this simple technique goes a long way. I then added flowers to each page, layering them both behind and on top of the photos to add a sense of depth. The Whimsical collection has so many beautiful florals that I actually had to restrain myself from using TOO many!

I then added sentiments and elements from the die cuts I printed as well as from the Chipboard Stickers. Using chipboard pieces added some dimension to the album. To embellish the cover of the album, I used the same format and techniques as I did for the pages. The final step was adding a closure. Luckily, this cut file comes with one built in. I simply added a yellow leather bow to the top of the closure for some added flair.

And with that, this crafty filled mini album is complete!

Thanks so much for stopping by the blog today!
