Layered Heart Mini Album by Amber Mitchell

Tuesday, July 7, 2020

Hello crafty friends! Amber Mitchell here on Paige's blog today to share with you a fun, layered mini album I created using Bloom Street and Paige's Layered Heart cut file.
Layered mini albums are some of my favorite to create. The different, varying sizes of each page adds a depth to the album that draws the eye in.

The process of creating this mini from start-to-finish took only a couple of hours. So, if you're into quick projects that are also fun, this style of album is perfect for you! I began by resizing theLayered Heart cut file as a whole until the largest heart measured about 6x7". I then cut the six pieces of this cut file from the following Bloom Street papers: Paper 03Paper 04Paper 14Paper 18, and two from the Specialty Transparency Paper.

Once all six of the hearts were cut, I machine stitched around each one to add texture. I then stacked the hearts from smallest to largest and stitched down the middle to secure them all together. You can use a sewing machine for this part or stitch your binding by hand.

After that, it was time for my favorite part: embellishing! I used multiple pieces from the Bloom Street collection to do this including the Cardstock StickersPuffy Vinyl StickersPuffy Word StickersLayered Butterfly StickersFloral Die Cuts, and Ephemera Die Cuts. I love all the different textures that these pieces bring to the album. It adds to the fun and they mesh well together.

To decorate the front pieces of this album, I started by first cutting three Rolled Flowers from patterned papers. This simple touch adds dimension and draws the eye in to the starting point of the pages. I also hand painted a wood veneer from my stash with white acrylic paint and adhered that to the other side.

Now, being that I am a lover of tassels and charms, I had to find some way to include them on this project. I used one of the Tassels and adhered that down to an inner page of the album using a small strip of Washi Tape. I then added a smaller tassel from my stash to that along with one of the Flower Charms.

For some last finishing touches, I added a few colored hearts from the Enamel Dots and now my mini album is ready for photos and journaling!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I’ll see you next time with another fun project!

  3. This is so adorable! What type of sewing machine do you use? I'm afraid of trying to stitch through all those pages without breaking the needle on my Kenmore sewing machine.
