Stitched Floral Layout by Maija Männistö

Hi, Maija Männistö here to share a layout made with Bloom Street and Paige's Sketch & Stitch Branch cut file! The photos are from our family photoshoot last summer, my kids among the gorgeous lupine flowers. The lupine flowers were the inspiration for this layout and I’m so happy how perfectly the Sketch & Stitch Branch cut file matches the flowers!
I used two tones of green thread for the leaves and two tones of purple in addition to light pink for the flowers, just like in the photo. For the most part I used a plain backstitch but for the flowers I wanted to add a little more texture so I used the chain stitch for the outer edges. It took me a good while to stitch the whole branch, but once finished there was no question if it was worth it or not!

I really wanted to keep most of the focus on the stitched pieces so I went light on the embellishing. I used blue and pink flowers from the Floral Die Cuts. The ‘love’ title is from the Cardstock Stickers, perfectly simple and gorgeous! Behind the title I used a pink and purple journaling piece from the Ephemera Die Cuts. I also cut a little pennant from the same patterned paper from the 12x12 Paper Pad as I used to back the photo. For a final touch I added little word sticker from the 4-Page Sticker Book.
In the end I felt like the plain white cardstock background was lacking something so I cut two pieces off from the edges and backed that with the pretty heart paper from the 12x12 Paper Pad. I stressed and bent the edges a little bit for more finished look. This breaks up the white space perfectly and brings that ‘something extra’ into the layout. For one of the torn parts I added a pennant and a Floral Die Cut together with stickers from 4-Page Sticker Book.

Thank you so much for stopping by today, have a lovely and crafty day!
