20 Minute Layout

Sunday, August 9, 2020

Believe it or not, this layout came together in 20 minutes! Seriously!! With a few patterned papers and a package of florals (all from my new Go the Scenic Route collection), you can document fun memories in minutes. I almost feel like it's cheating lol :)
Here is the start-to-finish process video so you can see exactly how this page came together so quickly:
I started with the same papers that I used for my recent Tag Flip Book project - allll the pretty florals from Go the Scenic Route (Paper 2Paper 9Paper 12Paper 14Paper 16Paper 18Paper 23, and Paper 24) and tore a strip from every piece of those papers. Depending on which way you tear you get a white core edge and I chose to highlight those sides. The white creates a contrast and divider between each busy patterned paper which is really helpful for the eyes not to be too overwhelmed.
For the background I chose the pink ledger B-side of Paper 10 and layered the torn paper strips starting at the top and working my way down, tucking each one underneath the previous piece. I decided the page needed a pop of yellow so I tore a strip from the yellow polka dotted B-side of Paper 8 and added it into the mix.
I splashed white acrylic paint down the layout using a paint brush as well as a toothbrush to make a finer mist. Then I printed two photos of Jane (at slightly different sizes) and trimmed them out leaving a white border - same concept as the torn papers, the white edge helps the photos POP and stand out against the busy background.
I overlapped the photos, off-center on the page, and then grabbed a new package of Floral Die Cuts. I scattered the flowers down the page where I focused the white paint splattering and then used liquid glue to attach the flowers and photos in place. By only placing a dot of glue on the back centers of the flowers the petals and leaves are free to bend and create dimension.
For the title I used Foam Thickers to say "ART CAMP" to the right of the photos and then balanced the title with journaling below written with a blue pen. Gotta go stamp the date, BRB :)
20 minutes!! That's all this layout took to make! Does it look like it only took 20 minutes? I love when pages come together quickly and easily.
I hope you are inspired to pick up my new Go the Scenic Route collection and start documenting your precious memories using the torn paper technique!
