Layered Flowers Layout by Paige Evans

I have a layout up on the American Crafts blog today featuring my 5 Layered Flowers cut files and Go the Scenic Route collection!
To begin, I went through all of the Go the Scenic Route papers and put them into piles of like colors - I ended up with a pile of dark pink, orange, yellow, blue, and light pink. I did have to supplement the yellows with a few papers from my previous collections to get 6 different yellows.
Then I enlarged each of my 5 Layered Flowers cut files so the largest flower was just under 5" (enlarge all of the flowers at the same time to ensure proper proportions are maintained). I die cut the flowers from the monochromatic patterned papers, one flower per color.
Then I spent some time distressing the edges of all the flowers with a pair of fine-tipped scissors as well as my fingernails and I creased the petals to create realistic dimension. I attached all of the flower layers and centers together with dabs of liquid glue and let them dry.
I chose the colorful butterfly B-side of Paper 3 for my background and placed the finished flowers in a wreath design. The leaves are die cut from from the green map Paper 5 and it's from one of my other Layered Flower cut files. I also distressed the leaves, creased them, and then tucked them underneath the flowers.
A photo of Jane sits in the middle of the wreath, partially tucked under some of the flower petals, so it's incorporated into the overall design. The title is "HAPPY" from the Ephemera Die Cuts and "day" from the Puffy Phrase Thickers. I journaled with a blue pen on a round, blue journaling spot Ephemera Die Cut, stamped the date on it as well, then tucked it into the blue flower.
I hope this layout inspires you to grab my my 5 Layered Flowers cut files and Go the Scenic Route collection to create a similar page!
