So Cold Layout by Paige Evans

Howdy! I have a new layout to share with you today using my Go the Scenic Route collection!

To begin, I fussy cut all the doilies/mandalas from the B-side of Paper 10. It's a monochromatic paper with blues, mints, and periwinkles and the shapes remind me of snowflakes. I decided to take that idea and roll with it!
After cutting out all the snowflakes I found a textured cardstock background to match and got to work doing mixed media. First I scraped on a layer of white gesso and let it dry. Then I dropped in matching watercolors from my favorite sets by Prima: Pastel Dreams & Tropicals.
Once the paint dried I started layering the snowflakes on top and used foam squares to adhere them in place to create shadows and dimension. I also bent up the edges of all the pieces for even more texture. Time for photos! We had a super early freak snowstorm on September 9th of this year so I printed a couple pictures of Fox from that morning on our way to school.
I tucked the photos under the snowflakes and started to embellish with a title made from a mix of the blue foil letters found in the Puffy Word Stickers and I pulled blue/aqua letters from the Foam Thickers to make the title "SO COLD". I wrote journaling with a dark blue pen on one of the snowflakes under the photos.
There are a few matching doilies/snowflakes with blue foil found in the Ephemera Die Cuts and Cardstock Stickers so I grabbed those and added them to the layout along with a Flag Paperclip with the same pattern which I slipped onto the left photo. And I tucked a torn tag with foiling also from the Ephemera Die Cuts under the left photo. Most of the mixed media background got covered up so I came back in with the Pastel Dreams & Tropicals watercolors and splashed them on top and also added watered down white acrylic paint which adds to the snowy theme of this page. A couple dots from the Puffy Phrase Stickers scattered between some of the snowflakes, plus a blue heart and aqua geotag from the Chipboard Stickers finish up this layout!
I hope you are inspired to create a wintery layout like this one using my Go the Scenic Route collection!

  2. Just beautiful !! Your creative eye saw snowflakes in that paper and WOW, that works beautifully. I love the look of them all clustered together with added texture. A perfectly pretty snowy day, although Sept 9th is way too early!
