Hello crafty friends, Amber Mitchell here on Paige's blog today to share with you this fun, heart-shaped coptic book I created using the Pie Chart Heart cut file and the Whimsical Digital Collection.
Coptic books have quickly become a favorite project of mine to create, thanks to Paige's online Coptic Bookbinding class. When I saw the Pie Chart Heart cut file I knew I had to try making a coptic book with it.
To create the pages of this book, I used my Cricut software to weld two, mirrored hearts together along one edge so that when folded in half both sides were aligned and even. I used the Pie Chart Heart cut file to do this so that the shape of my pages and covers would be identical. With the template for my pages made, I cut 18 individual pieces from patterned paper that I printed from the Whimsical Digital Collection. I used these 18 pieces to create six individual signatures for my coptic book.
For the front cover of my coptic book, I machine stitched along the edges of the cut file. I love the texture that this adds! For even more texture, I splattered watered down white acrylic paint across the cover. To make my covers thicker than the pages of my book, I layered up four extra hearts that I cut from kraft cardstock behind them. I then covered these with patterned paper for a clean and finished look.
When it came to embellishing this book, I used a mix of things. For the charms, I took a handful of random ones from my stash, like tassels and star/flower charms. Amidst these charms I added larger ones, like one from the Go the Scenic Route Charms and one of the fun Butterfly Charms from the Whimsical collection. I love how these two charms stand out and draw the eye in. As for embellishing the cover, I first print and cut die cuts from the Whimsical Digital Collection. I love, love, love the florals in this collection! I layered these up along with some pieces from the Whimsical Chipboard Thickers and finished the cover off with a couple of butterfly die cuts.
And that's how I made this heart-shaped coptic book! Bookbinding has been such a fun adventure and I encourage you to give it a try! Thanks for stopping by the blog today, I'll see you next time!
Love this! I have a question about the digital collections. I’ve just recently purchased Oh my Heart and Pick me Up digital collections and am having a difficult time with the die cuts. How do you know what size to make everything?
ReplyDeleteAgain super cute Coptic book!!!
