Hey there scrappy friends, Heidi K. Lewis here to share a layout I made with Paige’s Bloom Street collection and Butterflies Background cut file. Are there any trends you can’t get enough of? Personally, I will never grow tired of the anatomy art trend. The minute I saw the Butterflies Background cut file I thought it would make a perfect lung shape.
To make the layout, I used my Cricut Maker and a fine point Cricut pen in black to draw lungs onto Paper 10. Then I cut out the Butterflies Background cut file and a mirror image of the cut file from Paper 03. The soft blues from Paper 10 and muted pinks from Paper 03 mirror the colors of the ocean and pink houses in my photo of a Greek island called Hydra.
I wanted my butterfly lungs to look airy, so I opted to use the inner butterfly shape only instead of backing the cut file. However, I still wanted to keep the original shape of the cut file, so I used the outline of the cut file as a template to place each of the inner butterfly pieces. I glued down the center of each butterfly and folded the wings up to give the butterflies more dimension.
Following the rule of thirds, I placed on my photo on the right-hand side of the page. Inspired by the simplicity of the Greek islands, I decided to keep my embellishments minimal. I used a few floral and ephemera die cuts (sold out online, but still available in the Bloom Street Digital Collection) to frame my photo. I finished off my layout with a title made from Floral Foam Thickers and Puffy Word Stickers (available digitally).
Overall, this layout came together very quickly! I hope you feel inspired to create something today!
