Hey friends! Missy Whidden here with a new layout featuring Paige’s Wonders collection. I’ve been itching to use Paper 2 with the beautiful rainbow stripes, so I used it as a large background design element. I used an older cut file of Paige’s called Wonky Plaid Background and cut it on the rainbow paper using my Silhouette Cameo. I tore a large chunk of it and glued it to a sheet of thick white cardstock and then added a smaller piece to the right side. I coated a lot of the background with clear gesso and then used a rainbow variety of Shimmerz sprays to add lots of pretty color. My photo is a goofy one of me and my husband and I printed it in black & white to really allow all of the bright colors to pop around it.
I used quite a few of the large flowers from the Floral Die Cuts. The colors are so rich, and I just went crazy layering them everywhere! I tried to spread the colors around the page so the entire layout. For the background, I sprayed colors, added a bit of water, and used a brush to blend the colors around. I also used those same colors to add splatters and later did the same thing with some white acrylic paint. I tucked lots of matching tangled thread in several places for added color and texture. This cute heart is part of one of the Lollies; I just took the heart off and used it by itself.
I created a large floral cluster over on the lower right side using more of the Floral Die Cuts. I also fussy cut a few smaller ones from Paper 12. I tried to have all the colors represented in this area and I popped up some of the flowers to create depth using adhesive foam.
I did some mixing and matching with the title. I used “Fantastic” from the Epoxy Phrase Stickers and created “funny” using the small alpha stickers from the 8-Page Sticker Book. I stuck those to white cardstock to make the word, cut them out, and popped them up with adhesive foam. Finally, I cut “adventures” from Paper 12, distressed the edges, and popped that up as well. I love the mix of colors and fonts here. I mixed two blue thread colors together here and then added my journaling below that area using a black fine-tipped Sharpie. I created a cute little banner of sorts under the photo using some of the Puffy Stickers.
I hope this inspires you in some way today! I really enjoyed putting this together. I love taking a fun patterned paper and making it unique. This fun Wonky Plaid Background cut file did the trick, and it makes such a great and interesting background. Give it a try on your next project! Thanks so much for stopping by!
