Hey there scrappy friends, Heidi K. Lewis here on the blog today to share a home-themed layout made with Wonders. This layout was inspired by a folk-art illustration that I saw on Pinterest and combines three of Paige's cut files.
The home I selected for this layout is actually a Gingerbread House cut file, but the folk-art style of the cut file matched my vision for the page. The title "Home is Where the Heart is" for the page came from the 9 Home-Themed Cut Files bundle. I cut both the title and the gingerbread home out of moody blue Bazzill cardstock using the “cardstock for intricate cuts” setting on my Cricut. Then I used Paper 19 to cut out a Floral Heart from last year’s exclusive 19 Spring Cut Files. The “medium cardstock” setting on Cricut works well for cutting out intricate files from patterned papers from any of Paige’s collections. I decided not to back my cut files because I wanted to do a two-toned layout like my original inspiration. I arranged the Floral Heart cut file to make it look like smoke coming out of the house chimney. The heart-shaped smoke served as a backdrop for two photos of my house. I placed the title on the right-hand side of the page to balance out the two cut files on the left-hand side.
Once the cut files and photos were arranged, it was time to embellish the page. All of my embellishments were selected from the Chipboard Stickers, Ephemera Die Cuts, and Cardstock Stickers. My go-to embellishing technique is to create a scene. I arranged Floral Die Cuts around the paper house and Chipboard Sticker birds flying in the air above the house. A few embellishments around the photos and a journaling card from the Ephemera Die Cuts finish off the page.
Thanks for stopping by the blog today! I can’t wait to share my next creation with you all!
