Use the Force Layout by Shimelle

Hello crafty friends! Shimelle here today to share some colourful Star Wars fun with Paige's Stars cut file and Wonders collection! For this dressing-like-Jedis memory, I wanted to mix floral motifs with stars to capture the feel of both our local park where we took the pictures and the sense of a galaxy far, far away!

I started by cutting the Stars cut file in white cardstock at about 8 inches tall, but I built the rest of the layout first so I could back the stars mostly with scraps from the rest of the page. Paper 5 has an orange ombre polka dot that became my background and Paper 14 has a lovely tiny floral on light green. I matted that rectangle with white cardstock and placed it toward the right edge. Then I layered two tags from Paper 12, a journaling die cut from the Ephemera Die Cuts, and two 3.5x5 photos matted with Paper 20.

To pick up on the beautiful flowers at our park (even if they don't appear in these photos), I layered different sizes of Floral Die Cuts, including some leaves. The 'home life lately' piece came from the Ephemera Die Cuts and I love how perfect this seemingly simple phrase is with our photos of how we stayed entertained when we couldn't go anywhere! Other layers include pieces from the Puffy StickersCardstock Stickers, and the Banner Stickers, which I just love for adding something a little extra special to a page.

Finally, I backed the Stars cut file with the leftovers and tucked it into place. I backed the larger stars with papers from the 6x8 Paper Pad, and the smaller stars are mostly the different patterns that make up Paper 20. The title is simple and probably obvious, but that's okay! It's my favourite set of Thickers, the Mini Foam Thickers from Pick-Me-Up.

When you back a cut file, do you do that part of the page first or last? Backing it last was a very different process for me and I don't know why I've never done it this way around. I'm curious now how you back yours?! Thanks for taking a look at my project today and may the force be with you!

  6. This is so cute and I am loving Paige's new collection. When I did my Mom Layout, I used photos within the cut file so I pit that together first.
