Hello! ScrappyAdam back with you today sharing a new layout and something a little bit different from me – lots of mixed media!

I first cut the Doily cut file from Paige’s recent 20 Days of Spring Bundle. I cut it large 12x12 on white cardstock. I started with a sheet of white cardstock and decided to try out some basic mixed media. I used blending brushes and ink pads to do five colours in a sort of rainbow bursting out of the cut file and blended each colour together. I then took the Acrylic Stamps from Wonders to add dark blue butterflies across the page and tiny flowers and then added splatters of gold paint. Once this dried I decided to add gold glaze through a dotty stencil just for a little more texture! I placed the cut file on top, overlapping the bottom of the page, and trimmed it down, leaving a third of the page empty at the top. I am just getting to grips with mixed media and I loved how this looked so I didn’t want to cover it all up! Of course, we’re all eagerly awaiting Bungalow Lane so I decided to make use of an older collection from Paige: Go the Scenic Route, and cut out a load of the stamps from Paper 3. I layered these at the bottom of the page, some on foam dots, and some adhered to the page. This gave lots of dimension and something a bit different. I matted the whole page on a border of Paper 6 (gutting the middle of it – we can’t waste Paige paper!!).

I again turned to the Acrylic Stamps and stamped a heart in red and then cut this out to place to the left of my photos. I have two photos which are 4x3”. I also fussy cut some mandalas from Go the Scenic Route and layered two with an ephemera piece to the right of my photos. I brought in the Explore cut file, cutting it with Paper 21 from Go the Scenic Route to use as part of my title which I added to with Thickers from Wonders and Truly Grateful. I popped the letters back into the title cut file and this gives a different look as you get the white border of the letters from one perspective but a clean look from another - something different which I like! It was then time for the fun part of embellishing and, bizarrely for me, I didn’t think it needed a whole lot more! I added in a few gold hearts from the Puffy Stickers, a Chipboard Sticker layered with an 8-Page Sticker Book phrase, three fussy cut maps from Go the Scenic Route, a couple of Whimsical puffy stickers, and then two heart stickers from Wonders – one of which was actually the trash part between the layers but I thought it looked too good to throw away! I decided to add a large ephemera piece from Go the Scenic Route with a ‘Wonders’ Cardstock Sticker layered on top so the floral pieces were peeking out. Final touch of puffy stickers and that was this layout done!

I have to say that despite being a novice with mixed media, I really enjoyed this one! It put me out of my comfort zone and I love the look of the cut file on top of the mixed media with the photos layered on top of that. It gives so much texture! Thanks for stopping by, I’ll see you real soon!
