Amber Mitchell is doing an amazing mini album series on her YouTube channel and I got to participate with one of her custom heart-shaped cut files which you can download for free HERE! I used Wonders and loved every minute of creating this mini!
This was a style of album I'd never tried before! New things are always exciting and maybe a little intimidating at first, but more often than not it leads to even more ideas and inspiration. And, perhaps my favorite part, all of the goodies on the spine!
Here is a video of me walking and talking through my finished mini album:
Watch Amber's tutorial for assembling the base of this mini album:
The cut file comes with the outer heart shape, the inner heart-shaped pages, and a single heart. I cut the cover from chipboard, sliced it into 3 pieces, and covered the front and back with Paper 16 for a more sturdy base. Then I machine stitched around the edges for added cuteness and texture.
I cut 7 patterned paper pages using the cut file and machine stitched around all of those heart-shaped pages with white thread. I cut the pages from Paper 1, Paper 3, Paper 5, Paper 7, Paper 13, Paper 14, and Paper 15 and folded them in half with the solid paper in the middle - when I placed these into the album I put them in reverse rainbow order and it looks so pretty all splayed open :)
On the cover I used the Thickers to spell out "LUXEMBOURG", added gold alpha stickers from the Project Pad below, and trimmed a "so much fun!" Banner Sticker in half to flank the bottom.
To assemble the album, I strung handmade paper beads, actual beads, charms, and all kinds of tassels onto 7 pieces of elastic cord and knotted it around each open page. You could stack up more patterned papers to have lots of pages! 7 felt like enough for me to tell the story of our day in Luxembourg City, especially counting the fronts and backs of every patterned paper.
Here are pictures of all the spreads! It's a pretty basic mini album focused on layering and lots of colors created with Wonders. Some mini albums I make are very technique based, some are more photo based, some come together quickly, some take weeks. It's all part of the fun of experimenting and playing with paper and stickers and photo memories! This mini album took about 8 hours to create from start-to-finish over the course of 3 days.
I cut one of the single hearts from the cut file to use as a template for tracing and cutting out all of my photos into hearts. Every spread has at least one photo to tell the story.
I used the Thickers, Epoxy Phrase Stickers, Cardstock Stickers, Chipboard Stickers, Puffy Stickers, 8-Page Sticker Book, Banner Stickers, Floral Die Cuts, Ephemera Die Cuts, Acrylic Stamps, Washi Tape, and stickers from the Project Pad to embellish this album. I love it so :)
I always have more photos that I want to include than space seems to allow so I have to think of ways to add more. One of my favorite ways is to stitch two photos together across the tops to create a flip-up. I couldn't pick a favorite photo of Jane in front of this intricate door so I added both.
If you have any questions about a specific spread, leave a comment or send me an email and I'll be more than happy to answer :)
