The 8th of the 20 Days of Stitching Cut Files went out to those who purchased them I have a new layout to share with you made with the Butterfly Trails Cut File and Bungalow Lane!
I started by having my Silhouette cut the Butterfly Trails Cut File onto a piece of smooth light pink cardstock. I then grabbed white DMC embroidery floss and used all 6 strands to do a saddle stitch through all of the holes. To me this stitch looks more like "butterfly trails" than a backstitch would, but I could be easily persuaded otherwise :) It took about two hours to stitch the entire background and I started watching Bly Manor on Netflix. Loved it!
Then I grabbed a Martha Stewart butterfly punch and made about 34 butterflies from the multi-patterned Paper 4 which looks a bit like a quilt. I glued the butterflies between all of the stitching using a dab of liquid glue so the wings could lift off the page and create lots of texture and dimension and it looks like the butterflies are literally flying off the page!
With the stitching completed and the butterflies glued in place, it was time for a photo, title, and embellishments. There is a lot going on on the background, so I kept everything else to a minimum to let the background work shine. I printed a photo of Jane and the kittens to 3x4" and trimmed it out leaving a white border for contrast.
There is a more empty space on the lower right side of this stitching file which was meant for photo placement so that's exactly where I added my photo. You could rotate the background and have the photo be in an alternate location for a different look!
For the title "OH MY HEART" I used the Thickers for the "OH" and "my heart" is a sentiment from the 8-Page Sticker Book which I layered on some empty space on the top left corner of the photo. I tucked a piece of a label sticker from the 8-Page Sticker Book under the left edge and journaled with a blue pen. To finish, I stamped the date on a label sticker from the 8-Page Sticker Book then added a blue butterfly Chipboard Sticker and a pink "love" Foam Phrase Sticker on the right edge.
I hope you are inspired to check out my 20 Days of Stitching Cut Files and create a butterfly layout with Bungalow Lane!
