Today Layout by Lisa Fonseca

Tuesday, May 31, 2022

Hi crafty friends! Lisa Fonseca here today I'm sharing a new layout using Paige's Sunflowers cut file!

I used the new Splendid collection, did a bit of mixed media in the background, and used a photo from a few years ago when I was at my best friend's' wedding. I backed the flowers with patterned papers, using a lot of squares from Paper 19. I added flowers from the Floral Die Cuts as well as Thickers for the title.

I love the bold colors of the Splendid collection! Can't wait to create more layouts!

Me Layout by Kelly Daye

Monday, May 30, 2022

Hi everyone! Kelly Daye here today with today to share a layout made with Paige’s beautiful Splendid collection. The moment I saw pretty Paper 7 I knew I’d be doing some fussy cutting. Once cut out, I was able to manipulate the circumference so it could be popped up slightly inside the wreath, on another Paper 7. This gave me a super lush and layered floral wreath to embellish. I went around the top layer to tweak the flowers and leaves to add even more texture. Then I sprinkled in lots of fussy cut elements from Paper 9. Can you find all the strawberries, lemon slices, and tiny flowers? Some were fashioned into small, one-of-a-kind 3D embellishments. What else is in my glorious wreath? Little yellow Sequin flowers plus "sunshine", "happiness", "great memory", and gold hearts, all from the Epoxy Stickers.

Next, I cut out Paige’s Lemon Slice cut file from Paper 5 and chain stitched with gold thread. Orange hued Paper 9 made a perfect backing. The colorful lemon segments were made with paper strips in various widths from Paper 13 and Paper 5, while my photos fill in three segments. A little collage in the center of the lemon includes a pink floral Cardstock StickerButton, lemon Ephemera Die Cut, and the ‘ME’ Epoxy Sticker. My punny title, ‘Juice Bee You’, is wordplay of ‘Just Be You’ and it was made with the mini foam Thickers. It’s a nod to the cut file and all the buzzy bee’s you’ll find throughout Splendid. I used both Chipboard and Cardstock bee stickers and really love the tiny ones with gold wings from the 8-Page Sticker Book. Finally, in the bottom right corner, I added the date with the Roller Stamp, a sticker, and a torn bit of Washi Tape because groups of three always appeal to me!

Thanks for stopping by and have a Splendid day!

Happy & Good Times Layout by Paige Evans

Sunday, May 29, 2022

Here is a layout I made with leftover kits supplies from my "snack & scrap" mini class at the Crop & Create Delivered Papercrafting Event in April!

HAPPY & GOOD TIMES by Paige Evans
SUPPLIES: Horizon: Paper 01, 02, 03, 08, and 12, Cardstock Stickers, Ephemera Die Cuts, Floral Die Cuts; paper trimmer; fine-tipped scissors; blue journaling pen; adhesives (liquid, foam); white gessoPastel Dreams watercolorswhite acrylic paint, paint brush, cup of water, sewing machine and a rainbow of thread colors, 2 ½” circle punch

INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Use a 2 ½” circle punch to punch out the circles of the quilt patterned Paper 12 then use just the edge of the circle punch to punch out all the petal shapes. Alternatively you could fussy cut all the petals.
2. Machine stitch through all the petals using a matching colored thread. Slightly bend each petal for dimension.
3. On the pink patterned B-side Paper 02, apply a ring of white gesso off-center, overlapping the left edge. Once dry, paint and splash watercolors in a rainbow over the gesso. Once dry, splash white acrylic paint on top as the last layer.
4. Once the background is completely dry, adhere the petals in a wreath using foam squares for dimension.
5. Place a 3x4” photo inside the wreath, tuck a tag journaling spot die cut under the right edge, and journal on it with a blue pen.
6. Embellish the wreath with flower stickers and die cuts and place small heart stickers outside the wreath in the same color way.
7. Cluster same colored stickers and die cuts on the top left corner of the photo to create a title to finish.

So Very Splendid Layout by Jennifer Rambert

Saturday, May 28, 2022

Hello everyone! Jennifer Rambert here with a new layout featuring Paige's Splendid collection. I love butterflies and wanted to pair this new collection with one of Paige's Butterfly cut files. I started by cutting the Butterfly out of watercolor paper. I then wanted to play with my favorite inks so I colored only the left part of the butterfly in pink tones.

I then glued the cut file directly onto a white cardstock background and the inner parts of the butterfly I glued with 3D foam to add dimension. I dressed the right part of the butterfly with lots of flowers that I cut out of Paper 1. I love to fussy cut, especially when it comes to flowers. So I made a flower garden and inserted my photo inside. I added some stickers from the 8-Page Sticker Book and golden hearts from the Epoxy Stickers here and there, but nothing more because I wanted to keep the left part visible and intact and the right part being already well supplied I didn't want to add too much either! I finished with big ink splashes and small black splashes to harmonize everything.

I hope this inspires you in some way today! I really had fun creating it and I'm still not done with butterflies, that's for sure! Thank you for your visit and have a nice creative day!

Travel Words Layout by Jackie Ashton

Friday, May 27, 2022

Hi friends! Jackie Ashton here with my DT project using the Travel Words cut file!

As soon as I saw this Travel Words cut file I knew I wanted to use it to document my recent holiday. I cut the file using white cardstock and backed each letter with various patterned papers from Paige’s Wonders collection. Then I added the cut file to my background paper using 3D foam to give it some additional dimension. I matted my 2x3" photos onto patterned papers and added them to my layout. As the cut file is the main feature of my page, I kept the embellishments to a minimum, adding heart Chipboard Stickers on top of the cut file, and a few bits and pieces around the page. The Acrylic Stamp Set had the perfect phrase which I stamped directly onto the background above my photographs.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Double-Page Layout by Audrey Mutschall

Thursday, May 26, 2022

Hi everyone! Audrey Mutschall here today with a new layout featuring Paige's cut files and a fun double-page layout! Both of these layouts can stand alone, but I created them to coordinate with one another using photos from the same occasion and paper and embellishments from Paige's Truly Grateful collection.

The first layout includes one of Paige’s adorable Gingerbread House cut files, which I resized to about 2x4 inches. I backed the cut file with paper from the Truly Grateful collection and created a little scene by cutting hills and a path that lead up to the house. I stitched along the path using a chain link stitch in green variegated embroidery floss (DMC 4050) and outlined the hill using a backstitch. I added Cardstock Stickers (trees and a sun) plus some fussy cut butterflies and a toadstool to complete the scene. Next, I cut a large circle out of white cardstock and placed this over the scene I created. I used the digital Truly Grateful collection to print lots of flowers which I fussy cut and doubled up for extra dimension. I love printing flowers in slightly different sizes and then sticking them together using foam tape - this makes them look fuller and more realistic! Lastly, I tucked my photo into the side of the wreath I created and added a title using a die from the ephemera pack.

My second layout uses three cut files: CastleWaves Border, and a Kite. I resized the Castle to about six inches, cut it from white cardstock, and backed it with paper from the Truly Grateful collection. I made another little scene with this page, cutting out hills and paths as well as waves, which I tucked between the hills. I used two different shades of blue from the digital collection of Horizon to create the waves because I liked the contrast provided by the light and dark patterns. I placed everything onto a pink/purple ombre background paper from the Whimsical collection and stitched along the borders of the hills and paths. I cut out clouds, stitched around the edges, added them to the sky, and then embellished with fussy cut trees, flowers, and a butterfly - all from the digital collection of Truly Grateful. Next, I re-sized Paige’s Kite cut file, cut it out of white cardstock, backed it with paper from Truly Grateful, and placed it beside the castle. I love the whimsical feel this kite adds to the page! Lastly, I added my photo, complete with the sentiment “It’s a Long Story” and a sticker that reads “Stay Golden”, both from the Truly Grateful collection. I tucked a journaling card behind the photo to explain the funny story behind the photo: my daughter went for a scooter ride one day and insisted on taking her backpack. I thought she’d packed herself a snack, but later learned that she’d packed a Mandalorian mask! She stopped midway through her ride, whipped out the mask, and continued on her journey while wearing the mask. I, of course, had to take a few photos of my silly girl!

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope this inspires you to be creative with double page layouts - they don’t have to match perfectly to coordinate and complement one another!

Summer Sun & Fun Layout by Ashley Neu

Wednesday, May 25, 2022

Hi friends! Ashley Neu back for another Paige’s Cut File Design Team project. For today’s layout, I created a summer layout using Paige’s new and fabulous collection called Splendid paired with her cut file named Summer Sun & Fun.

To start off the creation of this layout, I cut out the Summer Sun & Fun cut file using both white cardstock as well as this beautiful Paper 12. I adhered the white piece of the cut file directly to the background paper which is Paper 24 and popped up the inside of the letters using foam adhesive. I also cut out the sunshine piece of the cut file from Paper 5 to add an offset onto the cut file. I love the added dimension this gives to the sunshine! I tucked in my photo above the title. Next I fussy cut 3 butterflies from a patterned paper found in the 6x8 Paper Pad to scatter around the layout. I embellished the layout using a camera from the Chipboard Stickers, a doily from the Cardstock Stickers, and a tab sticker from the 8-Page Sticker Book. Finally, I cut slits at the top and bottom of the layout to fold up and add in the pink and white plaid paper from the 6x8 Paper Pad. I love the way this adds a pop of pattern! I grabbed a few Nuvo Drops matching the colors I used in the layout to add next to each of the butterflies.

Thank you so much for stopping by Paige’s blog. I hope you have enjoyed reading the process of creating this layout and have a wonderful day!

Splendid Traveler's Notebook by Amber Mitchell

Monday, May 23, 2022

Hello crafty friends! Amber Mitchell here on Paige’s blog today to share with you this traveler’s notebook styled journal I created using the new—and BEAUTIFUL—Splendid collection!

Since seeing the first sneak peeks of the Splendid collection, I knew I had to make a journal with it. When Bungalow Lane came out last year, a journal was one of my first projects with it, and I had SO much fun putting it together and using it to document my family’s visit to the local pumpkin farm. I wanted to recreate that experience with Splendid and I can’t wait to fill this journal up with memories!

To create the base of this journal, I started with five sheets of 8 x 8-inch paper that I folded in half. To add more character to the project, I also included a 3 x 4-inch page that I cut from Paper 24 and a tag-shaped page that I cut from Paper 22.

To bind the pages together, I first started by poking holes with awl at half-inch intervals down the length of the journal. I then used white embroidery thread to saddle stitch all of the pages together.

To embellish the cover of this project, I tore strips of paper that were 8 inches in length and layered them one over the next. I then hand-stitched one of the flowers from the Cross Stitch Kit and layered that up amongst some leaves from the Floral Die Cuts. One thing I love about Paige’s collections is that she always includes plenty of flowers! To create a garden-esque feel, I added a couple of bees tucked in with the leaves. Finally, I added a title at the bottom of the cover using a sentiment from the Epoxy Stickers and some of the mini Thickers.

To embellish the rest of the album, I first created a few pockets using torn strips of paper. I love adding tuck spots to my projects to hold any extra photos or memorabilia. For extra journaling spots, I used some cut-aparts from Paper 24 and some cards from the Ephemera Die Cuts and added them throughout the journal using some cute clips, including the Heart Paper Clips.

I always love using the 2x2 Paper Pads to add photo mats throughout projects, so I did the same here with this journal. I added these to a few pages and layered them up with pieces from the 8-Page Sticker BookChipboard Stickers, and Layered Bouquet Stickers.

To finish off the album in my true-to-self fashion, I added a mix of charms. I love the Flower Charms from the Splendid collection so I added one of those and a couple of others from my stash that coordinated well with the theme.

Thanks so much for stopping by my post today! I hope you feel inspired to create your own project with this gorgeous collection! I’ll see you next time with another fun project!

World Traveler Layout by Paige Evans

Sunday, May 22, 2022

Here is the layout I showed how to make during my "snack & scrap" mini class at the Crop & Create Delivered Papercrafting Event in April!

WORLD TRAVELER LAYOUT by Paige Evans
SUPPLIES: Horizon: Paper 01, 02, 03, 08, and 12, Cardstock Stickers, Ephemera Die Cuts, Floral Die Cuts; paper trimmer; fine-tipped scissors; blue journaling pen; adhesives (liquid, foam)
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Trim the rainbow burst Paper 03 into the 16 individual wedges. I did not use the darker green wedge.
2. Hand cut three circles from each wedge - these are about ¾” to 2” in width. Or if you have 3 sizes of circle punches, that’s a great option! I do however love the wonkiness and varying sizes of the circles made from hand cutting them.
3. Once all the circles are cut, distress them by slightly crinkling the edges. You could also distress the edges which I would love to do to reveal the white core and create more definition between the circles, only because of time I did not for this sample :)
4. Layer the trios of circles from large to small and adhere them together with dabs of glue in the center so the edges can lift and bend.
5. Grab the blue patterned paper B-side Paper 08 as the background and place the circles as the beginnings of flowers across the middle, staggered, in a rainbow order. You could also mix up the order and create different color ways and patterns.
6. Once you like the placement of the circles, I recommend taking a picture to refer back to in case anything gets bumped.
7. Trim ⅛” strips from green patterned paper for stems, tuck and glue them in place, then glue the circles in place. Trim any excess stems.
8. Give dimension and life to die cut flowers by pinching and creasing the petals and leaves then adhere them between the round flowers using foam adhesive for dimension.
9. Adhere a 3x4” photo on the top left overlapping the flowers. You could add additional photos across the top.
10. Embellish with butterfly/moth/dragonfly stickers between the upper flowers in the same color order, scatter leaf die cuts across the bottom along the stems, and top a lot of the flowers with the same color of sentiment sticker.
11. Add a journaling spot on the bottom right corner and journal with a blue pen.
12. Tear a small section of the top edge for interest.

Splendid Coptic Book

Saturday, May 21, 2022

With every scrapbook collection I create a matching coptic book with bookbinding kits and here is the Splendid edition!

I love making these handmade coptic books and giving them away as gifts and to look pretty on my shelf :) You can use them as diaries, "smash books" or art journals, daily gratitude journals, wedding sign-in books, mother-to-be baby shower books, as a scrapbook, making lists, for instax photos, book reviews, and so much more! I made my December Daily 2017 in one and I think it's my most favorite December Daily to date.

My favorite part is the exposed binding and tying charms, beads, stickers, tassels, buttons, sequins, and more into the binding as I'm sewing.

This book is 4x6" which is perfect for full-sized photos and smaller memorabilia. It lays flat when opened which makes it easy to write & "art" in.

These covers are made from wood that my dad and I cut and then I painted a rainbow of stripes with acrylic paint on both covers.

For the bits & baubles on the spine, I added Heart Paper ClipsFlower CharmsButtons, and Sequins, all from my Splendid collection! Then on the cover I embellished with a rainbow of Floral & Leaf Die Cuts and a smattering of colorful Enamel Dots.

There's nothing quite like the feeling of making a cute book completely from scratch!
