iNSD No Scissors Layout by Phil Donahue

Wednesday, May 18, 2022

Hi crafty friends! Phil Donahue here today with here on Paige's blog today to share with you the layout I created for my challenge for International Scrapbook Day in Paige's Happy Scrappy Place Facebook Group!

The challenge I chose was NO SCISSORS! Paper trimmers are allowed for removing branding strips on papers and trimming photos. Electronic cutting machines may also be used for cut files but everything else must be scraps from previous projects, torn papers or anything else you can think of to avoid using scissors! For my project, I wanted to create a textured background using papers from Paige's new Splendid collection! The photo featured my niece Zelda in a rainbow dress so I knew the background had to be colorful. I choose 12 patterns from a rainbow of colors. I tore each from side to side and adhered them to a sheet of white cardstock. I used one of my favorite rainbow papers from Wonders and tore about 1/4 and adhered it to the left side of the page to tie it all together.
For my title, I used Paige's free cut file from the Scrapbook & Cards Today magazine's website called "Sunshine & Rainbows". I resized it to about five inches and cut it six times from white cardstock. I layered and glued each piece on top each other to create dimension. I backed it with a torn rectangle of vellum to wash out some of the patterns and placed it next to the photo. Final touches were the embellishments! I scattered tone-on-tone Floral Die Cuts and Enamel Shapes as confetti on the right side of the page which added even more color and interest!

Thanks for checking out my iNSD project! Be sure to visit Paige's Happy Scrappy Place Facebook Group for more fun challenges and projects!
