Keep on Growing Layout by Kelly Daye

Thursday, June 30, 2022

Hi everyone! Kelly Daye with my newest Cut File Design Team layout. I’m back in the garden, painting it yellow, pink, and mauve with Paige’s Paintbrush Cut File, each backed with pretty foil papers from the Splendid 6x8 Paper Pad. My entire layout was built on a white scalloped background I made using Paige’s Scalloped Border Cut File. I share all the how-to’s in my YouTube process video today.

The scalloped background was popped up with foam tape on Paper 17. Just perfect with all the right colors! The backing on the bottom of each brush was cut from watercolor paper so that I could add wet ink to mimic paint. Once dry, I rubbed a glue stick randomly on them and burnished them with gold Minc Foil. Then I glued on lots of sequins in a nonsensical way. I wanted them to look really random. Beneath the paintbrushes, I added stitching, my photos, some Splendid Sequins and some more from my stash. To finish off the painterly swipes, teeny-tiny flowers, made with Paige Evans cut files, were added in the same colours. Use these links to find each cut file: mauve flowers, yellow flowers, pink flowers. Did you notice the Enamel Hearts on the brushes? My title, ‘Keep On Growing’ is a combination of Thickers and Epoxy Stickers. Finally, bright green leaves perfectly complement the title, while butterflies float around too. I sprinkled baby powder on the backs of them to take away the stickiness so I can shape their wings into flight. Oh, I also chain stitched a frame in lime green with DMC floss, adding a bead every five stitches. It’s all in the video, I’ll see you there!

So I squeezed in five cut files, I think that might be a record for me! Happy scrappy friends!

Right Now Layout by Paige Evans

Monday, June 27, 2022

Last week I went live in the Scrapbook & Cards Today Sampler Facebook group to show how to create this grid-design layout from start-to-finish using the June SCT Sampler which features Splendid!

I used a 1 3/4" square punch to make a bunch of patterned paper squares quickly from the cute gingham papers by Honey Bee Stamps as well as patterned papers from Splendid. I machine stitched around the paper squares edges to add texture and interest, placed them in rainbow order, and then adhered them with foam squares for dimension at an angle on a white cardstock background. I added (6) 1 3/4" photos into the mix of paper squares, all of cute Jane just being her cute self. To embellish I added Floral Die CutsEpoxy Stickers, and bits and pieces from the 8-Page Sticker Book, mostly tone-on-tone. I journaled on one of the lighter sections with a blue pen and stamped the date with my Roller Stamp on the bottom left.
This layout came together quickly and easily with the help of the SCT Sampler and 1 3/4" square punch! I love that it can be adapted so many different ways - use a different paper collection for a whole new look. Use bigger or smaller squares. Leave out the machine stitching or replace with hand stitching. Change up the angle or create it horizontally/vertically. However you interpret this page design, I'd LOVE to see your results so be sure to tag me!

Ice Cream Truck Layout by Ashley Neu

Sunday, June 26, 2022

Hi friends! Ashley Neu back for another Paige Evans Design Team project! The cut file I picked for this layout is the Ice Cream Truck Cut File. I am also using Paige’s newest Splendid collection and it definitely lives up to its name!

I started by backing the Ice Cream Truck Cut File using papers from the 6x8 Paper Pad as well as the 12x12 Paper Pad. I wanted to keep the colors light and bright which is exactly what this collection is all about. After backing the cut file, I added some extra detail by using Nuvo Drops in colors matching the layout to the words ‘Ice Cream’ as well as to the sprinkles on the ice cream cone. To add my photo to the layout, I wanted to incorporate it into the cut file so I tucked it into the back window of the truck. Next I worked on the background by creating a road from Paper 21 and a grassy hill from Paper 10. I also added a border around the sky using Paper 20 and clouds from white cardstock. I added the word ‘chillin’ on the front tire rim to create my title ‘Ice Cream Chillin’. To finish I added two birds from the Chipboard Stickers and 8-Page Sticker Book as well as the adorable yellow flower Buttons.

That is all for today! I hope you love this layout as much as I do. Have a wonderful day and see you next time!

Envelope Flowers Layout by Yui Oku

Friday, June 24, 2022

Hi everyone! Yui Oku here today with a new layout, this time I chose Paige's Envelope Flowers Cut File paired with Splendid!

I enjoyed backing the cut file with papers! My favorite is Paper 15 for the envelope! The background is denim Paper 16. I wanted more flowers, so I used Paige's Flower Corner Cut File. I didn't back these flowers, I just cut it from white cardstock and added fussy cut flowers from Paper 1 as well as flowers and leaves from the Floral Die Cuts. Lastly, I added embellishments that went along letters such as stamp stickers and more envelopes!

Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you found something inspiring!

Say Yes to the Dress Layout by Valerie Bisson

Thursday, June 23, 2022

Hi friends! Valerie Bisson here today with a new layout featuring Paige's Stars Garland and Chandelier cut files paired with Splendid collection!

I wanted to scrapbook photos of my daughter trying on dresses for her graduation and there was a chandelier in the dress shop which guided my decision on which cut files to use. The Chandelier and the Stars Garland cut files were just perfect for my page. I cut them from white cardstock, backed the stars with gold glitter paper, and lightly tinted the chandelier in tattered rose Distress Oxide Ink. Then I added the cut files to the top of Paper 11. For a fun idea I created the page to look like the dress shop with the photos displayed and cut to look like the mirrors. For extra emphasis I hand stitched a chain link stitch around the photos. Embellishing included Epoxy StickersFloral Die CutsHeart Paper ClipsEnamel Shapes, and Thickers, all from Splendid, and a few pieces from Wonders such as washi tape, a chipboard frame, and a puffy heart. To complete the page I dated it using the Roller Stamp and added white and gold paint splatters.

Have a wonderful crafty day!

You Make My Heart Happy Layout by Phil Donahue

Wednesday, June 22, 2022

Hi crafty friends! Phil Donahue here back again sharing another project using Paige's ever-inspiring Splendid collection and her "You Make My Heart Happy" cut file from the 12 Days of Love Cut Files she released in February 2022. This bundle is super versatile and works for nearly any occasion or layout!

For my layout, I predominantly featured Paper 13, which is my favorite paper from Splendid, to document my favorite photos of my niece and me. Both sides of Paper 13 are insanely inspiring to me so I knew I had to showcase both. Isn't it always the case that you love both sides of the same paper? Because I was featuring black & white photos, I decided the majority of the background should be the rainbow B-side. However, this background would also be amazing if Paper 13 were used in the inverse to feature colorful photos. I cut a straight line to seperate each color row then curled and adhered each at various lengths based on the size of the cut file and placement of the photos which revealed the contrasting black & white floral A-side. I used the B-side from Paper 1 to make up for the missing remainder of the 12x12 sized page. I backed the cut file with three patterned papers from the 6x8 Paper Pad plus a sheet of vellum. From the paper pad, I used versions of the rainbow dot and black & white florals along with a colorful, gold-foiled floral with a black backdrop. Embellishments were kept at a minimum to better showcase the cut file and photos; simply using fussy-cut black & white/gold-foiled florals along with gold hearts from the Cardstock Stickers.

I hope you find some inspiration in this post! Thanks for stopping by!

Wonderful Layout by Noelle Culp

Tuesday, June 21, 2022

Hi crafty friends! Noelle Culp here today I am so excited to share this project using Paige's Rainbows Background Cut FileOne of my favorite papers from the Splendid collection is the peachy rainbow Paper 11.

For this layout, I used Paige's Rainbows Background Cut File and cut it out from Paper 11. For my background I kept it very simple and just added a few splashes of Distress Oxides to textured white cardstock. I then tore the edges off the cut file and glued it loosely down to my background. I also tore the rainbow paper into two strips along with Paper 15 and stitched them down to the top and bottom of the background. I matted my photos using matching peach-orange specialty gold foiled paper from the 12x12 Paper Pad. I also added a tag from Paper 22 and a cute little sentiment from Paper 23. I finished it off with some fussy cut flowers from both Paper 7 and Paper 1. And of course, added a few sequins!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

A Good Day Layout by Missy Whidden

Monday, June 20, 2022

Hi friends! Missy Whidden here with a new Splendid layout. I was inspired by all of the beautiful butterflies in this collection, so I began by fussy cutting several of them from patterned papers in the 12x12 Paper Pad and the 6x8 Paper Pad. My photos are perfect for them because it appears that she’s looking up at them flying around. I used textured white cardstock for the background, which I coated with clear gesso first. I wanted to add a few colors to the background, so I went with lots of blue up top and pink on the bottom. I used a few Shimmerz sprays to create that watercolor effect and then splattered white acrylic paint and Gold Glitter Spray. I tore a few strips of a few patterned papers from the 12x12 Paper Pad to give my photos a place to sit, and I machine stitched through them. I placed all the butterflies in random areas to make it look like they flew right onto the page.

I love the torn edges on the paper strips. To create even more texture I ran the edges through my distresser. I tucked in a fun metallic banner from the Cardstock Stickers under the photos. I also tucked in some dark pink thread here to create texture. Finally, I added an Epoxy Sticker under the title. I’ve been on a glitter kick lately, so I smudged gold Nuvo Glimmer Paste in a few areas using my fingers.

I planned to use a large title as part of the design, so I fussy cut it out and played around with the placement before I attached the butterflies. Larger bits are harder to work in at the end of the process, so I made sure to work with those in the beginning. I popped the letters up with adhesive foam to create dimension. I used a small butterfly punch from my stash to add a tiny pink butterfly here on the title. I chose a few tiny details to add here including a small piece from the 8-Page Sticker Book and another small sentiment from the Chipboard Stickers.

It’s fun to see the textures show up through the watercolor areas. These bright butterflies really stood out against the pretty blues. Here you can see the bits of gold shining through. I only glued them down on the centers so I could easily bend the wings. Instant dimension! I used a white gel pen to add trails from a few of the butterflies. I also tucked in matching blue thread here under the photo.

I hope this inspires you in some way today! You can never go wrong with butterflies in rainbow colors! This was fun to put together and the majority of it is patterned paper. Sometimes all it takes is a little patience to fussy cut and you can have all the embellishments you want! Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Splendid MemoryDex Cards

Sunday, June 19, 2022

Continuing with this ongoing project, I present my 3 MemoryDex cards using Splendid!

I purchased this mint wooden tray on Etsy two years ago and am filling it with cards made with all of my American Crafts scrapbook collections. So far this tray is filled with cards from Go the Scenic RouteWonders, Bungalow Lane, and now Splendid! I create 3 cards with each collection.
This is a continuation of my Pink Paislee MemoryDex (click on that link to see them ALL!) which coincidentally filled up completely with my last collection under the Pink Paislee brand, Bloom Street.
For the first Splendid MemoryDex card, I created a Lemonade Stand and Slice Cut File.
I made an orange, lemon, and lime slice using orange, yellow, and green patterned papers, all from Splendid. To embellish I added Chipboard StickersCardstock Stickers, and transparency stickers from the 8-Page Sticker Book.
I backed the Lemonade Stand with more patterned papers and then made it more realistic with a banner ("SMILE" from the Epoxy Stickers), teacups and a pitcher from the Cardstock Stickers, and a title made with mini foam Thickers. Plus a few more stickers here and there for added cuteness.
I set an eyelet through the corner of each piece and attached them all together with a mini loose-leaf binder ring. Don't forget the notches in the lemonade stand to add it into the tray!
For the second card I trimmed a piece of the Floral Transparency and a piece of white cardstock to 4.25x6.25". I lightly adhered the transparency on top and then used a 1.5" circle punch through both layers to make 6 circles. I tied a Flower Charm through each circle and then made the MemoryDex holes a the bottom. I machine stitched around the edges and across the threads holding the charms in place. To embellish I added a Heart Paper Clip, gold heart Epoxy Sticker, and a pink "create" word from the 8-Page Sticker Book. I also printed the Splendid logo to add to the card.
I love how the Flower Charms dangle and are free to move around in their round frames!
For the third card I cut an envelope and liner piece from patterned papers then machine stitched around the edges.
I filled the enveloped with Ephemera Die Cuts and bits from the Cross Stitch Kit then embellished the front with a "Create" Ephemera Die Cut, a floral Chipboard Sticker, and a Layered Bouquet Sticker. I added mini photos telling the story of Splendid then tucked everything into the envelope.
Here is a closer look at the pieces I stitched from the Cross Stitch Kit. There is no right or wrong way to stitch through the holes - just have fun!
I've added these 3 cards into my MemoryDex tray and it sits on top of a cabinet in my happy scrappy place!
These are the 9 previous cards in the tray made with Go the Scenic RouteWonders, and Bungalow Lane.
Let me know if you have any questions about any of these cards or MemoryDex in general.
I also have a MemoryDex class available here: https://bit.ly/februarymemorydex
I absolutely love seeing this tray get more full every 6 months with a new set of cards.
3 Garden Shoppe cards are coming up sooner than later since I just received my first box of supplies last Friday!

Hand Drawn Flowers Layout by Lisa Fonseca

Saturday, June 18, 2022

Hi crafty friends! Lisa Fonseca here today I'm sharing a new layout using Paige's Hand Drawn Flowers Cut File and Splendid collection!

I backed the Hand Drawn Flowers Cut File using pink, blue, and yellow patterned papers from Splendid. When I started, I had another background in mind. I used a white cardstock background and did some mixed media on it... but I didn't like it at all, so I decided to use one of the patterned papers, the rainbow striped Paper 13 instead. I really love it. The flowers pop on this background! On top of each flower I added tangled thread behind Floral Die Cuts and a Button in the center. I also like the little touch of white I added by cutting one of the cut file flowers in two and letting the pieces peek out from behind the colorful flowers. I added some hand cut leaves, a Heart Paper Clip, and the title made with Epoxy Stickers to finish.

Hope you like it, see you soon!

Love Grows Here Layout by Kelly Daye

Friday, June 17, 2022

Hi everyone! Kelly Daye here celebrating the beginning of garden season in Edmonton. I’ve used Paige’s beautiful Splendid collection with her Flower Dots Frame Cut File and cut it from Paper 5. I used a pink paper from Paige’s Truly Grateful collection to back the flowers but if you have Splendid Paper 23, it would be absolutely perfect! I just love the fresh and vibrant green from the B-side of Paper 10 and used it to paper-back the flower centers.

I made a mauve inner offset for my frame using Paper 4. While adding more depth to the design, it also introduced a third color. For even more texture, I made an offset of the entire cut file from white cardstock to give me a nice sturdy edge to chain stitch the entire frame with 6 strands of white DMC Floss. Paige’s Flower Garden Stencil with white modeling paste added a nice detail to the center of the frame. You can cut the exact stencil from cardstock using Stencil Set 1 available in Paige’s Etsy Shop. A square frame from the Cross Stitch Kit couldn’t have been more perfect! Once stitched, I popped it up in the middle of the cut file with more 3D foam tape and embellished all around it. There’s lots of flowers, leaves, butterflies, a lemon, gold epoxy hearts and some colorful Enamel Dots. I wanted a few more leaves, so I used the leafy branch from the Acrylic Stamps with gold Archival Ink on vellum then fussy cut out three to add to the floral collages. My title, ‘Love Grows Here’ is from the Ephemera Die Cuts, again the colors are perfect!

Happy gardening to my northern friends!
