Keep on Growing Layout by Kelly Daye

Hi everyone! Kelly Daye with my newest Cut File Design Team layout. I’m back in the garden, painting it yellow, pink, and mauve with Paige’s Paintbrush Cut File, each backed with pretty foil papers from the Splendid 6x8 Paper Pad. My entire layout was built on a white scalloped background I made using Paige’s Scalloped Border Cut File. I share all the how-to’s in my YouTube process video today.

The scalloped background was popped up with foam tape on Paper 17. Just perfect with all the right colors! The backing on the bottom of each brush was cut from watercolor paper so that I could add wet ink to mimic paint. Once dry, I rubbed a glue stick randomly on them and burnished them with gold Minc Foil. Then I glued on lots of sequins in a nonsensical way. I wanted them to look really random. Beneath the paintbrushes, I added stitching, my photos, some Splendid Sequins and some more from my stash. To finish off the painterly swipes, teeny-tiny flowers, made with Paige Evans cut files, were added in the same colours. Use these links to find each cut file: mauve flowers, yellow flowers, pink flowers. Did you notice the Enamel Hearts on the brushes? My title, ‘Keep On Growing’ is a combination of Thickers and Epoxy Stickers. Finally, bright green leaves perfectly complement the title, while butterflies float around too. I sprinkled baby powder on the backs of them to take away the stickiness so I can shape their wings into flight. Oh, I also chain stitched a frame in lime green with DMC floss, adding a bead every five stitches. It’s all in the video, I’ll see you there!

So I squeezed in five cut files, I think that might be a record for me! Happy scrappy friends!
