Cinch Mini Album by Amber Mitchell

Tuesday, August 2, 2022

Hello crafty friends! Amber Mitchell here on Paige's blog today to share with you a fun mini album that I created using the bright and colorful Splendid collection and Mini Cinch machine!

To create the covers of this mini album, I used two sheets of medium weight chipboard that measured 4.5 x 6.5 inches. I wrapped these using sheets of patterned paper from the 12x12 Paper Pad that measured 5.5 x 7.5 inches.

Next, I adhered a thin sheet of clear acetate in-between the covers. The amount of space between the covers is optional; mine measured about 1.5 inches. Before lining the inside of the covers, I first created the pages and bound them to the base.

To create the pages, I used my Cricut machine to cut out half-circle shapes that measured 6.25 inches in height. To create the spine, I used a sheet of paper the measured 6.25 inches in height and 6 inches in width; I folded this paper in half, then scored at 3/4 of an inch in from the folded line on both sides. I folded and creased along these score lines, creating a divot that goes inward.

Next, I used the Mini Cinch Tool from We R Memory Keepers to bind the pages to the spine. I then adhered the entire spine mechanism in-between the covers of the album, using the acetate as a guide. Finally, I lined the inside of the covers using sheets of paper that measured 4.25 x 6.25 inches.

For extra storage space, I added pockets to the inside of both the front and back cover. On the front cover, I opted to add a triangle shaped pocket, while on the back cover I added a more traditional square pocket.

To create photo mats for this album, I used cut-aparts from Paper 6. I cut these into pairs of two, folded them in half, and then adhered them to the half-circle pages of my album.

To embellish the cover of this mini album, I used Paige's Butterfly Half Cut File. I backed this using a solid pink paper and then layered a mix of flowers on top of it. To create the paper flowers, I used Paige's Layered Flower and Leaf Cut File as well as her Rolled Flowers.

To embellish the rest of the album, I used a mix of embellishments from the Splendid collection. To add dimension, I used Thickers and Chipboard Stickers. To create titles I used Epoxy Stickers. For extra texture I used a sentiment from the Cross Stitch Kit and stickers from the Layered Bouquet Stickers. As always, I used a lot of flowers from the Floral Die Cuts and fussy cut butterflies from Paper 3.

To finish off the album, I added a fun journal in the back pocket and a mix of charms to the spine, including one of the Flower Charms.

Thanks so much for stopping by my post today! I'll see you next time with another fun project!

  1. This is so creative and amazing Amber! I love every single page. Can I ask, the acetate on the spine, is that tucked under the inside paper? You mentioned making the inside papers first, do you cinch them all together, with the inside cover paper, then tape them to the cover and acetate? What a beautiful project 💗
