Hi friends! Kelly Daye and I’m so happy to share my first layout with Paige’s brand new and gorgeous Garden Shoppe collection and I can’t wait for you to get it too! I fell hard for the little pup on the Cardstock Stickers and knew it’d be perfect for a layout of our sweet dog Buddy a.k.a. Buddy-kins, Budweiser, and Budster.
I’ve used two of Paige’s cut files: Butterfly Cluster and Beach Bag, a free cut file for members of Paige’s Happy Scrappy Place Facebook Group. Join today for inspiration, news from Paige, fun conversations, and access to over 220 FREE cut files that Paige has gifted to the group! First, I replaced the blade on my Silhouette Cameo with the pencil adapter and rather than cutting out the butterflies, my Cameo drew them on white AC Cardstock. I backstitched each one with six strands of DMC floss. Only one of the butterflies was stitched with white wings. That one’s for Buddy, my sweet garden angel. I’ve used Paige’s Beach Bag Cut File as a garden basket and backed each section with fringed Paper 9 to add lots of texture. The handle is backed with a floral paper from the 6x8 Paper Pad. Once backed, an offset of the basket was taped to the back so I could easily chain stitch around the edge. Again, using 6 strands of DMC floss, color B5200 (it’s brighter than DMC White).
To anchor my garden basket so it didn't look like it was floating on the page, I hand stitched some grass blades here and there and made French knots to mimic tiny flower buds near the bottom. Paper 6 framed my layout on top and left. All the gorgeous colors complement the stitched butterflies perfectly. Along the edge, more white chain stitching finishes the border with polish. A pretty wreath from the Layered Stickers hangs from the basket handle, while flowers from the Floral Die Cuts are tucked in and around the basket. I’ve used mini foam Thickers from Paige's Splendid collection to make my title on the basket handle, ‘Buddy Love’. Do you see a tiny pink button, hummingbird, and bumblebee? They're all from the Cardstock Stickers. ‘Hey cutie Pie’ was cut out of Paper 12, I just love all the cute phrases made to look like they’re on a letter board.
Hug your pets for me! Thanks so much for being here!
