Washi Tape Heart Layout by Audrey Mutschall

Wednesday, September 7, 2022

Hi everyone! Audrey Mutschall here with a new quilt-inspired layout featuring Paige's cut files and the gorgeous Splendid collection! I started by cutting Paige’s Quilt Heart Cut File from textured white cardstock, making sure to save the negative spaces (triangles) to cover with Washi Tape. The patterns on the Washi Tape from Splendid are so beautiful and vibrant and I love the impact they have when used together. After wrapping the negative spaces in Washi Tape I adhered them back down in their corresponding spaces and then used my sewing machine to zigzag stitch around the outside of the heart.  This enhances the quilt-like feel of the page and adds extra color and texture.

With the Quilt Heart Cut File complete, I spent some time cross-stitching two of the flowers from the Cross Stitch Kit as well as the square frame and the “Love You” sentiment. I placed my photo behind the frame and arranged the other cross stitched elements around it. Lastly, I embellished my page with Buttons, stickers from the 8-Page Sticker Book, and a Cardstock Sticker.

I hope this inspires you to use Washi Tape for backing a cut file - it’s fun to try something different and it’s really easy to do!
