Hello crafty friends! Amber Mitchell here on Paige’s blog today to share with you my first project with the new and beautiful Garden Shoppe collection! I created this colorful layout using the Pie Chart Heart Cut File, watercolors, and all the fun pieces from the collection. The colors in this collection are absolutely stunning, so I wanted to showcase as many of them as I could on this layout.
The first step was cutting out the pieces of the Pie Chart Heart Cut File. I used my Cricut machine and a bunch of patterned papers from the 12x12 Paper Pad to do this. I chose a rainbow of fall-themed patterns and once cut, I machine stitched along the edges of all of them and then used a pair of scissors to distress the edges further. Next, I laid these pieces down on white cardstock and, with a pencil, lightly traced the outline of the heart. I then removed all of the pieces from the cardstock and used my watercolors to create large splatters of colors in the bottom left, right, and top right areas of the page. I used paints in the shades of yellow-orange, green, and pink. To add a bit more texture, I also added more defined droplets using watered down paint and a paintbrush. Once the paper dried, I adhered the pieces of the cut file into place using foam tape. I then fussy cut a bunch of yellow flowers from Paper 7. I layered these flowers around the heart and I really love how the shade of them matches the shade of paint I used.
I chose to document a photo of my nephew on this layout, so I added that photo to the center of the heart and began layering embellishments around it. First, I backed it using some scrap paper, and then layered a swatch from Paper 24 behind it. I also layered some flowers from the Floral Die Cuts around it as well. For extra texture, I added Butterfly Stickers as well as a flower from the Layered Stickers on top of the photo. To create the title, I used the Thickers to spell out “Happy Days” and then used some white Mini Foam Thickers to spell out “Autumn Memories”. I added a few sentiments from the Ephemera Die Cuts and the Foam Phrase Stickers and then finished off the layout by adding more of those fussy cut flowers around the photo itself.
Thanks so much for stopping by my post today! I’ll see you next time!
