Hi crafty friends! Phil Donahue here and I'm so happy to be back with my first blog post featuring the light & bright Garden Shoppe collection! For this layout I wanted to document a cute photo of my niece hugging a pumpkin because last year she discovered pumpkins and became completely enamoured with them. I knew Paige's Pumpkin Trio Cut File would be perfect to showcase this photo along with the Autumn-themed Garden Shoppe collection.
For the background I was steadfast on using my favorite paper from the collection: Paper 4 - I love it so much I used both sides of it from the 12x12 Paper Pad. Since I planned on using the rainbow woodgrain side as a border I cut out a large square from the center to use for embellishments. After I cut the multi-color heart paper to an 11x11 sheet I distressed the edges and adhered it over the 12x12 piece to cover the missing square. I used torn pieces of the leftover woodgrain to back the photo and create a base for the cut file and title which was made with the Thickers. I love multicolor Thickers because you can choose colors that perfectly fit the color scheme of any layout! To back the Pumpkin Trio Cut File I found lots of orange and green patterned papers from the collection. Some papers were from the 6x8 Paper Pad because the smaller scale fit better within the size of this cut file. Also, cutting and tearing papers from paper pads always feels more cost effective to me because you never have to worry about wasting the other side! After backing, I adhered the cut file with foam squares to create dimension and placed the photo in a perfect spot between two pumpkins. Embellishments and final touches on this layout were clusters of flowers from the Floral Die Cuts and sentiments from the Cardstock Stickers. I also scattered enamel dots and splattered watered-down orange Distress Oxides around areas of embellishments to bring the whole page together and highlight the photo even more!
