Two of a Kind Layout by Paige Evans for SCT with Stitching Tutorial

Here is one of my layouts that was in the Spring 2023 issue of Scrapbook & Cards Today Magazine which you can download and browse for free HERE! I used my Blooming Wild collection and it features... can you guess? Hand stitching!

To create this layout, I first started by piercing holes around each flower on Paper 12. I then found DMC threads to match all the colors printed on the paper and did a backstitch through each flower. I changed the color of the thread to match the color of the flower.

After all the flowers were backstitched I made a French knot in the center of all the flowers. I think this page took about 24 hours to stitch in its entirety. Worth every second! I did trace a 4" square in the center and didn't stitch inside because I knew that's where my photo would go.

Speaking of the photo, with the stitching complete, I added a 4" square photo of me and my mom to the center with foam squares. While I was stitching this page my mom was visiting so I thought it'd be fun to use a photo from the exact same time. This is us in our floral dresses for church.

I didn't want to cover barely any of the stitching so I focused everything around/on/under the photo. I trimmed a square floral Chipboard Tile into quarters to use a photo corners. I tucked Floral Die Cuts underneath the edges and made the title at the top with a sentiment Chipboard Sticker.

Next I tucked a Journaling Spot under the bottom edge and wrote journaling on top with a purple pen. I finished by embellishing with small flowers from the Puffy Phrase Stickers.
