Hi friends! Kelly Daye here and my challenge for iNSD in Paige's Happy Scrappy Place Facebook Group is to make a mini album!
The mini I made with Paige’s gorgeous Blooming Wild collection was inspired by her Accordian Mini Album With Tags Cut File. My mini celebrates friends & fun from the Blooming Wild Weekend just held in Newark, NJ! I needed my album to be a bit bigger to use all-the-pretty-things. My finished album measures 4x4”. The outside is covered in pretty yellow Paper 20 and chain stitched with DMC 4095. The inside is lined with Paper 24 and whip stitched with DMC Floss 603. To embellish the cover I used Paige’s Star Geometric Cut File and it’s paper backed with a rainbow of colors from Paper 22 then topped with one of the pretty Chipboard Rounds.
I made a cute tassel using Paper 12. I love that each heart looks quilted. Paige taught this technique in her virtual Paper Clip Mini Album Class. The classes are the highlight of each month and I always learn something new! After fussy cutting the hearts, I glued five together back-to-back to make one 3D heart then strung them on silver metallic thread through an eyelet in the spine.
Here’s the measurements I used to make this mini.
The first panel needed to be extra special so I had my Silhouette Cameo cut out a heart. I filled it with the Floral Transparency and chain stitched along with sequins from my stash. I also chain stitched the reverse side and added Mini Flower Puffy Stickers.
Since the spine is only 1.5” I didn’t pop up the ephemera or use many chipboard elements. Instead I focused on adding stitched elements for texture. I fussy cut tags from Paper 22, chain stitched tone-on-tone and sprinkled them throughout the album. I also chain stitched a gorgeous floral tag from the Ephemera Die Cuts, cut it in half, and used it on two different panels.
I used two more cut files by Paige in this project: Heart Envelope and Love You Lots. You can see them in my video flip-through. The little envelope is perfect for tiny extra photos.
One of my favorite panels is with the Chipboard Alphabet Outlines. I used the letter A to say hello to ‘A Beautiful Happy Day’. I back stitched Letter A and flanked it with Floral Die Cuts and Mini Flower Puffy Stickers. I made good use of the Cardstock Stickers throughout as they don’t take up much room but add a lot of color and interest to the album.
It was wonderful to catch up with other Cut File Design Team gals, Yui and Heidi and of course sweet and awesome Paige. Naturally one panel is dedicated to us :) Watch the video flip-through to see the whole thing!
Be sure to post your MINI ALBUMS in the Happy Scrappy Place Facebook Group comments of my challenge post by Saturday May 20th 2023 and winners will be announced on Monday May 22nd 2023! Can't wait to see what you come up with!
