Hello scrappy friends! Phil Donahue here here and my challenge for iNSD in Paige's Happy Scrappy Place Facebook Group is to create in a monochromatic color scheme!
My comfort zone has always been using a rainbow palette to create colorful layouts so I really wanted to challenge myself (and all of you) to create a monochromatic layout and break out of my usual creative pattern! I chose pink as the main color and this was a great way to use up scraps from all of Paige's collections including Blooming Wild, Garden Shoppe, Splendid, Bungalow Lane, Wonders, Go the Scenic Route and Bloom Street! The inspiration for this layout came from a sunburst sketch from Allison Davis and Scrapbook & Cards Today magazine. After finding all the pink patterned papers from my scraps, I cut each into a 2-inch strip then cut each of those in half on a diagonal making sure the blade cut from the upper left corner down to the lower right corner. I adhered the papers all around the page leaving about a quarter-inch space between each. I cut two circles and layered each at the bottom of the page where the points of the triangle papers met. I matted my photo with white cardstock and used foam squares to pop it off the page around the area the points all met. This draws so much focus to the photo! I used the Puffy Phrase Stickers from Blooming Wild along with the Epoxy Phrase Stickers from Wonders to create my title. I kept embellishments super simple using Floral Die Cuts and Ephemera Die Cuts from Blooming Wild near opposite corners of the photo. Final touches were enamel dots and hearts (in shades of pink, of course) and splatters of white acrylic paint around areas of embellishment!
Be sure to post your MONOCHROMATIC projects in the Happy Scrappy Place Facebook Group comments of my challenge post by Saturday May 20th 2023 and winners will be announced on Monday May 22nd 2023! Can't wait to see what you come up with!
