Hi scrappy friends! It’s Audrey Mutschall here and my challenge for iNSD in Paige's Happy Scrappy Place Facebook Group is quilt-inspired!
I absolutely love creating quilt-themed layouts and when I saw Paper 15 from the Blooming Wild collection, I knew I wanted to add hand stitching to enhance the beautiful details. I started by stitching the hearts in coordinating variegated embroidery floss colors using a chain link stitch. With that complete, I used light blue embroidery floss to backstitch around the light colored squares containing the hearts. Lastly, I stitched around the colored squares using a chain link stitch and tone-on-tone colors. The paper looked so pretty with all the stitching complete and I was really excited to add a meaningful photo. I took a photo of my daughter snuggled into a blanket made by a very special person, a lady who was like a grandma to me. I have many fond memories of baking and crafting with her when I was a little girl and I thought this was the perfect way to honor those memories. I mounted the photo on Paper 5 and added a border of stitching around it then added a layer of pink Paper 23 behind that. I offset the photo and placed it onto two pieces of Paper 9 then added a journaling tag, stickers from the Sticker Book, and a few Chipboard Stickers around it. I also added a few of the Chipboard Rounds to some of the patterned squares for a little extra dimension and fun!
