Hello scrappy friends! It’s Ashley Neu here for the Paige Evans’ Cut File Design Team to share my next layout. Using Paige’s Blooming Wild, I created a new back to school layout with the addition of the Alphabet Background cut file.
After cutting the Alphabet Background from white cardstock, I adhered it slightly running off of the background which is Paper 5. I like this look because it gives a fun and whimsical vibe to a pre-k back to school layout. To back the cut file, I cut it again from Paper 10 and used the inlay technique. Some of the pieces were adhered flat to the background and some were adhered using foam adhesive. I like the way this makes shadows. Because I adhered the cut file to the left side of the background, I chose the right side to adhere my photo. Because Paper 10 has a fun rainbow look, I wanted to use the technique of tone-on-tone embellishing. I scattered several embellishments across the background using the Cardstock Stickers, Sticker Book, Thickers, and Ephemera Die Cuts. To finish off the layout, I used Paper 10 again and punched a Notebook Border Punch to adhere to the right side of the layout. I love the symmetry this gives to the look of the layout.
This background cut file was so easy to use, especially when you cut it again from a patterned paper and use the inlay technique. I hope you’ve enjoyed reading this process and are inspired to create a back to school layout! Have a wonderful day!
