Hello scrappy and spooky friends! Phil Donahue here happy to be back on Paige's blog with a scary cute Halloween layout featuring the Hocus Pocus from the 20 Halloween Cut Files along with elements from her Splendid collection!
My sister and niece live in Salem, MA so Halloween is pretty much a lifestyle! My sister dresses Zelda in fun Halloween clothing throughout the month of October and the colors in this particular outfit perfectly matched papers from Splendid! To begin, I resized the Hocus Pocus to be about 7" wide then cut it out of the black and multi-color polka dot side of Paper 1. I backed it with the pinks, orange, and purple strips from the rainbow side of Paper 13. For my main background I used the black & white striped side Paper 13 from Garden Shoppe. I went back to Splendid and tore strips from Paper 1, Paper 10, and Paper 15 to border the top and bottom of the layout. I adhered foam squares to the back of the cut file and photo and placed it over the top of the background. I tore strips from the scaled down rainbow paper from the 6x8 Paper Pad and layered it with scraps from the black and polka dot paper to matte the photo. To further reflect the fun theme of the photo, I wanted to create a ton of texture on the page. To achieve this, I glued clusters of black, green, and orange sequins all around the layout. I also added black & white baker's twine to sequin clusters which added even more texture and interest! Final touches were splatters of orange and purple Distress Oxides around areas of embellishments to complete the layout!
I hope you found some inspiration in this layout and choose to try Paige's 20 Halloween Cut Files and challenge yourself to incorporate her collections into your October memory keeping! Thank you for stopping by and have a happy, scrappy, SPOOKY Halloween season!
