Hello scrappy friends! It’s Ashley Neu back for the Paige Evans Cut File Design Team to share another double page spread! This time I used Paige's Butterfly Background from the 19 Spring Cut Files and her Blooming Wild collection. You’re going to see how I really made the most of this cut file with a double page spread and one piece of patterned paper!
The base of both of my layouts is white cardstock. The beautiful patterned paper that I picked to be the star of the show is Paper 22. After cutting out the Butterfly Background from the 19 Spring Cut Files from Paper 22, I left the butterflies on the cutting mat for later and adhered the other piece of the cut file to the white cardstock. Because Paper 22 has a rainbow starburst design, I wanted to continue those lines through the open butterflies. I grabbed my ruler and carefully traced where the lines would be.
After poking the holes along the lines that I had traced and erasing the pencil lines, I started hand stitching with matching colors to the starburst design. I wanted to include sequins into the stitching so that’s what I did throughout the whole layout! A tip if you want to save some time stitching and save on materials: adhere your photos if you know where they will be going. There is no need to stitch in those areas! Lastly, I added a title from the Thickers and some small embellishments from the Chipboard Stickers and Mini Flower Puffy Stickers. The tiny puffy flowers were the perfect touch to add on top of the stitching. I used some foam adhesive to pop them up, adding liquid glue for added security.
The second layout was so easy to put together. Previously, I had cut this same cut file from a piece of scratch paper so that I could use it as a template to get the butterflies exactly where they should go. I could have used the original template that I used on the first layout, had I thought of that! :) Placing each butterfly in their appropriate place, I used a small amount of glue to attach each of the butterflies, concentrating it on the body and leaving the wings free to lift off the page. I did add some lines of stitching on numerous butterflies for added texture and interest! I added one 4x6” photo to the layout along with a journaling card from the Journaling Spots. The fussy cut florals are from Paper 24 and the sentiment sticker on the journaling card is from the Cardstock Stickers.
I absolutely adore creating coordinating two-page layouts! I hope you have found some inspiration here today and be sure to check out the 19 Spring Cut Files along with Paige’s other amazing bundles available on her shop. Have a great day!
