Hip Hip Celebrate Layout by Monique Lowe

Hello creative friends! Monique Lowe here sharing a sunny layout using Paige's cheery Sun cut file and her Blooming Wild collection.
To start my layout, I used Paper 3 to cut out the Sun. I then began working on my background using Paper 10 as my base. With mixed media in mind, I added a layer of clear gesso to the entire page and once dry, added a thin layer of white gesso. I focused this in a large circle shape to match the size of the cut file. This helped to soften the background pattern and colors, allowing all the added mixed media, photos, and embellishments to stand out. Using a variety of Shimmerz paints, I added a splash of color to my background. I focused the mixed media directly behind where the cut file would be placed and used colors to coordinate with the patterned paper for a tone-on-tone effect. Once dry, I stuck down the cut file, only adding adhesive to the circle - this allowed me to bend the rays up for added dimension. I distressed the edges of the inner ray pieces and stuck them down slightly offset from the outline. I backed both my 2x4" photos with vellum and a sheet of patterned paper from the 6x8 Paper Pad. I raised them up with foam and surrounded them with pretty blooms fussy cut from Paper 2 and from the Floral Die Cuts. I hand cut three clouds from Paper 5 and added these to my flower clusters, along with a shimmer of Nuvo Glimmer Paste in Moonstone. To finish off my layout, I added in my title using Thickers, a word piece from the Ephemera Die Cuts, a scatter of sequins in coordinating colors and a splatter of white paint. I had so much fun creating this sunny layout! Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you feel inspired to get creative with the Sun cut file and Blooming Wild!
