Hi friends! Kelly Daye here! Our summer is fast approaching and I’m hoping it’ll include a beach somewhere. This summer layout features Blooming Wild, Splendid, Garden Shoppe, Sugarplum Wishes and Paige’s Sandcastle cut file. It’s an awesome cut file if you love adding lots of color and pattern to your layouts. I sure do, and who says a sandcastle has to be brown? Not in my scrap room!
The Sandcastle cut file and background are cut from white cardstock. After backing it with patterned papers from the collections, I glued it to a shadow made in Silhouette Design Studio using the Offset feature. I did a simple running stitch along the edge, going around twice, using variegated DMC 4077. To make my background, I used Paige's Alphabet Background cut file - using the inside portion of the letters, I spelled out ‘Life’s A Beach’ over and over to fill the paper. Once cut out, I laid it over another sheet of white cardstock for the pretty embossed appearance. To make the bokeh bubbles on the background, I made my own stencil with a nested circle die set. Then with soft brushes and Distress Oxides, I stenciled in opposite corners, overlapping some of the circles. To emphasize them and add more color and texture, I chain stitched around each bubble using variegated DMC 4095 and 4040. I kept my embellishments to a minimum, using a Chipboard Round, Cardstock Stickers, and Mini Flower Puffy Stickers from Blooming Wild, Mini Thickers from Sugarplum Wishes, and the Garden Shoppe Sticker Book. I made little 3D clouds and added splatter using the same Distress Oxides watered down. Of course there are sequins, gold Stickles, and gold acrylic paint added to emphasize the diagonal design. There’s just endless options for mixing Paige’s collections together to scrap your own awesome summer memories! A cut file is always a fun place to start, check out Paige’s Cut File Bundles in her shop!
