Adventure Awaits Layout by Heidi Lewis

Hello friends, it's Heidi Lewis here on the blog to share an Adventurous layout documenting some summer escapades at Bear Lake with my family.
I started with Paper 14 for my background and applied modeling paste through a cloud stencil to the left side of the page. Then I sprayed Moody Mauve Shimmerz over the clouds to help bring some pink into the background to match my photo. Next I cut out the Dreamcatcher cut file from white cardstock and backed it with vellum. The pink tint to the vellum was achieved with ink blending. Rather than backing the feathers, I thought it would be fun to make feathers out of Washi Tape. The feathers were made by applying 2-3 inches of washi tape to either side of a string, cutting the tapes into feather-like shapes, and fringing the sides of the feathers. I left some extra string at the end of each feather so that I could sew the feathers onto the layout. I overlapped a 4x3" photo of my niece with the Dreamcatcher. I made hand stitched clouds recycling a cut file from Paige's Poppy & Pear 4 Layouts Class. I also embellished the layout with star stickers from the Flags & Frills collection, butterflies fussy-cut from Paper 19, Cardstock Stickers, pieces from the 8-Page Sticker Book, and hand-stitched sequins. The finishing touch is the main title, Adventure Awaits, made with a combination of Stickers and Mini Thickers. Hope you feel inspired to document some of your summer memories with Paige's Adventurous collection!

  1. I like the feathers idea with tape. Never had that one. It's cool.
