NYC Getaway Layout by Kelly Daye

Wednesday, August 7, 2024

Hello sweet friends! Kelly Daye here with a layout for our 22nd wedding anniversary trip to NYC last April. Helping me celebrate is Paige’s new, bright, and beautiful collection called Adventurous and her Cityscape cut file.
First thing you notice arriving in NYC is all the tall buildings, and this Cityscape cut file was perfect! I’ve used Adventurous Paper 20 and Paper 24 to cut out the buildings. Then I glued them to an offset created in the Silhouette Studio cut from white cardstock. I used a straight pin to make holes for stitching then using 4 strands of DMC floss I stitched every window and all around the edge with a combination of the chain stitch and straight stitch. Above my cityscape, I combined Floral Die CutsCardstock StickersEnamel Stickers, and a hot air balloon Mini Puffy Sticker to make a pretty focal point. The butterfly on the right is a Rub On - I was so happy to see them back as part of Paige’s collection! All three photos are placed in Chipboard Frames. Did you notice the blue Washi Tape decorating one of the frames? The lower photos are surrounded by Mini Puffy Stickers, a butterfly and postage stamp Cardstock Sticker, and a Rub On. I also glued on some tiny gold metallic stars from the Sequins and more Enamel Stickers. I adore using all the fun little things. Look, there’s Jim hailing a taxi (from the Chipboard Shapes) while I wait in the shade of my lovely umbrella, ha! Under the taxi, I made a cheerful tulip garden with the Floral Die Cuts. My title ‘getaway’ is from the Chipboard Shapes. Finally, I added a Charm Staple under the tulip garden. So many beautiful things to choose from in Paige’s Adventurous collection! I hope you’re inspired to celebrate a memorable trip too!
